EC1 Partners is working with a leading global financial markets technology business that is looking to hire a Low-Latency Principal Engineer in Singapore.

This is a senior technical leadership role focused on owning latency across the full trading platform. The successful candidate will work across software, protocols, connectivity, configuration, hardware and networking to identify bottlenecks, improve visibility and drive measurable performance improvements across trading systems.

The role would suit a hands-on principal engineer or senior technical lead with strong experience across low-latency trading platforms, C++ engineering, performance optimisation and trading infrastructure.

The Role

You will be responsible for improving latency, throughput and reliability across a business-critical trading platform. This will involve designing and implementing telemetry, instrumentation and notifications to identify latency issues, using data to evidence bottlenecks, and working with engineering, infrastructure and business stakeholders to prioritise and deliver improvements.

This is a high-impact role with ownership across the platform, from analysis and design through to development, optimisation, production troubleshooting and senior stakeholder communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Own latency analysis and optimisation across the trading platform
• Identify, evidence and prioritise latency-producing bottlenecks
• Design and implement telemetry, instrumentation and alerting
• Lead improvements across software, protocols, connectivity, configuration, hardware and networking
• Develop and optimise low-latency trading services
• Work closely with engineering, infrastructure and business teams
• Present progress, findings and recommendations to senior management
• Help drive engineering practices and standards around low-latency performance

Experience Required

• Strong C++ engineering background
• Experience building or optimising low-latency / high-throughput trading systems
• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms and performance optimisation
• Experience with telemetry, instrumentation, observability or benchmarking
• Exposure to Java and/or Python would be beneficial
• Strong Linux / trading infrastructure understanding
• Good understanding of FX or electronic trading workflows
• Ability to work across engineering, infrastructure and business stakeholders
• Strong communication skills, including presenting technical findings to senior audiences
• Proactive, detail-oriented and comfortable owning complex performance problems end to end
