Role Overview & Business Impact
We are seeking an experienced Lead Legal Trainer to facilitate intensive 3-day workshops for government personnel. The primary outcome of this role is to ensure participants develop a robust and working understanding of the Singapore Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code (CPC), and Evidence Act. The successful candidate will shift the learning focus from basic activity completion to tangible competency acquisition, equipping participants to effectively apply statutory provisions and successfully clear their internal law examinations.
Key Responsibilities
- Workshop Facilitation: Deliver up to 16 runs of a 3-day training workshop, conducting 7.5 hours of instruction per day (0830hrs to 1730hrs) on weekdays.
- Curriculum Customization: Design and customize a rigorous training programme that covers specific pillars of criminal law, arrest and bail procedures, and evidentiary rules.
- Application-Based Learning: Execute at least 2 application-based learning activities (e.g., classroom debates, practical case studies) per workshop to bridge the gap between theory and operational practice.
- Resource Development: Produce and distribute comprehensive training manuals and materials to all participants at least one working day prior to the commencement of each scheduled run.
- Flexible Delivery: Adapt instructional delivery for either a hybrid (e-learning combined with face-to-face) or a purely physical learning modality.
Core Competencies & Behavioral Indicators
- Subject Matter Authority:Accurately translates complex legal provisions (such as general exceptions, the right of private defence, and the burden of proof) into practical, scenario-based concepts.
- Instructional Agility: Demonstrates the ability to manage class sizes of 12 to 20 participants, keeping engagement high and adapting seamlessly to participant comprehension levels.
- Outcome-Driven Focus: Continuously maps learning activities directly back to the ultimate outcome of participant readiness for rigorous law examinations and real-world application.
Mandatory Requirements
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience in teaching, guiding, facilitating, or conducting law-related training workshops specifically for Singapore government agencies.
- A documented track record comprising at least 2 similar completed projects (from 1 January 2021 onwards) involving law-related modules.
- Ability to clear all necessary background checks required by the client prior to the commencement of the training.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Law or a related discipline from a recognized institution (a Master's degree or postgraduate qualification is an advantage).
- Demonstrated expertise in the Singapore Penal Code, Criminal Procedure Code (CPC), and Evidence Act.
- Certification or formal training in adult education, instructional design, or training delivery (such as ACTA/ACLP/WSQ or equivalent) is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to design, develop, and deliver complex legal training content to adult learners.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse participant groups.
- Familiarity with both in-person and hybrid instructional methods, including e-learning tools and platforms.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple workshop runs and adapt to dynamic schedules.
