Job Description

We're implementing a new Commodity Trading & Risk Management (CTRM) system a major transformation that will modernise our trading operations, strengthen controls, and enable smarter, data-driven decision making across the T&S value chain.

As Lead Functional Business Analyst, you'll shape the functional design and delivery of this program, translating business needs into solutions that drive performance and efficiency across Trading, Risk, Operations, and Finance. You'll lead a team of Business Analysts, partner with stakeholders at every level, and ensure that every aspect of the solution meets business requirements and adds measurable value.

This is a pivotal, hands-on role requiring deep understanding of the physical trade lifecycle, exceptional analytical capability, and the ability to influence outcomes across business and technology domains.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of the business analysis workstream - managing a team of BAs and ensuring consistent, high-quality outcomes across multiple functional areas.
  • Translate business needs into clear, actionable deliverables including functional specifications, user stories, process maps, and acceptance criteria.
  • Facilitate design workshops and playback sessions to validate requirements, ensure alignment, and secure stakeholder sign-off.
  • Partner with Trading, Risk, Operations, Finance and IT to define and embed future-state processes that strengthen controls and data integrity.
  • Oversee UAT planning and execution, ensuring test scenarios reflect real-world trading and operational processes.
  • Maintain governance and traceability, linking business requirements through to configuration, testing, and delivery.
  • Drive quality assurance, ensuring all business analysis artefacts meet program standards and are audit-ready.
  • Support resource planning and capability development by mentoring analysts, identifying skills gaps, and uplifting domain knowledge.
  • Act as the key conduit between business stakeholders and delivery teams, enabling clear communication and timely decision-making.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience leading business analysis or functional delivery within large-scale transformation programs.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Deep domain expertise in physical commodities trading, with depth in one or more of: Front Office, Risk, Operations, or Finance.
  • Strong background translating business requirements into functional design and technical specifications.
  • Proven success engaging senior stakeholders and navigating complex governance frameworks.
  • Exceptional analytical, facilitation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to coach and develop teams while remaining hands-on in delivery.
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or Technology (Oil & Products trading experience highly regarded).
