Job Description

We are presently looking for experienced candidates to take on a contract assignment as a LEAD ENGINEER - AUTOMATION, ICSS/SIS for an offshore development project. The role will primarily be tasked leading the automation, ICSS, and SIS engineering scopes for FPSO topside and marine systems (DCS / ICSS / SIS / F&G / ESD).

Engineering & Design

  • Lead and execute ICSS, SIS, and F&G engineering scopes for FPSO topside and marine systems.
  • Develop and review automation network architectures, control narratives, I/O lists, cause & effect matrices, and system BOMs.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable Codes and Standards and hazardous area classifications.
  • Prepare and validate detailed design documents, including:
  1. Instrument data sheets, loop and interconnection diagrams, valve sizing, and panel design layouts
  2. Automation software specifications, network diagrams, telecom systems drawings, and system interface documentation
  • Define and manage procurement specifications and sizing for Automation, Instrumentation, and Telecom equipment.
  • Ensure alignment and interface integration with Process, Electrical, Mechanical, and Telecom disciplines throughout design and construction.

Project Execution & Commissioning

  • Perform PLC programming, logic development, HMI configuration, and safety logic (C&E) for FPSO process and utility systems.
  • Supervise and execute FAT, SAT, loop checks, functional tests, and offshore commissioning of DCS/ICSS/SIS/F&G systems.
  • Oversee preservation, calibration, assembly, and verification of field instrumentation (transmitters, valves, actuators).
  • Support construction teams in cable routing, cabinet installation, network termination, and subsystem integration.
  • Conduct factory testing and system acceptance of instrumentation, telecom, and automation systems.

Field Services & Operations Support

  • Conduct troubleshooting, logic modifications, and network diagnostics during production and commissioning phases.
  • Manage interface testing and communications between ICSS and third-party vendor packages (compressors, generators, HVAC, etc.).
  • Support documentation and handover, ensuring as-built data and test records meet client and regulatory standards.
  • Perform preservation and maintenance checks during yard and, if required later on, offshore phases to ensure system integrity.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements

  • A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent that would be relevant to the primary job responsibilities of the position
  • Solid project engineering exposure with mininum 10 years relevant hands-on experience in the Automation, ICSS/SIS design, and commissioning discipline especially gained in FPSO/offshore Oil & Gas facilities projects would be preferred.
  • Candidates with proven track record in FPSO detailed design, integration, and commissioning projects possessing core technical competencies in the following are preferred:

- Systems: ICSS, SIS, F&G, ESD, DCS, Instrumentation, and Telecom

- Platforms: Automation (AB PLCs, ControlLogix, GuardLogix, RSLogix 5000, FactoryTalk View/SE)

- Languages/Protocols: Ladder Logic, Function Block, Structured Text, Modbus, Ethernet/IP, OP

- Design Deliverables: Cause & Effect, Control Narrative, P&ID interface, Loop Diagrams, Network

Diagrams, Panel Design

- Field Systems: Electronic transmitters, pneumatic actuators, control valves, sensors, and safety field

devices

- Software Tools: Excel (Advanced), VBA, Power BI, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams

- Codes & Standards: ISA, IEC, API, CS Rules, ATEX/IECEx, ISO standards for offshore systems

- FPSO Systems Coverage: Topsides process automation, marine utilities, power generation, HVAC, and

cargo handling

  • Well-versed and with strong familiarity with offshore/marine construction and coordination among multi-discipline teams
  • Self-driven, able to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and collaborative platforms (Outlook, Teams)
  • Strong foundation in industrial safety systems, hazardous area requirements, and system redundancy design
  • Previous experience in training delivery or technical mentorship within automation disciplines is advantageous
