About the Role
The Senior Legal & Commercial Manager will serve as the company's principal in-house legal and commercial adviser for the regional business. Operating as a senior standalone lawyer, the role will lead contract drafting, review and negotiation across the region and provide management with practical, business-oriented advice on significant legal and regulatory risks.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review and negotiate customer, supplier, distribution, channel, strategic partnership, software licensing, services, NDA and OEM-style agreements across multiple jurisdictions.
- Advise management on material legal, contractual and regulatory risks with clear and commercially practical recommendations.
- Support business activities across multiple ASEAN jurisdictions (with preference for candidates who have covered at least two of these markets in prior roles; coverage of all key regional markets is strongly preferred).
- Develop contract templates, approval procedures, playbooks and risk controls.
- Coordinate external counsel where specialist or local-law input is required.
- Support corporate governance, compliance, employment-related matters, disputes and regulatory enquiries as needed.
- Identify and manage risks involving data protection, anti-bribery, competition, sanctions, export controls and digital-asset regulation.
- Partner closely with management and cross-functional business teams.
Essential Requirements
- Qualified lawyer in Singapore or another established common-law jurisdiction.
- At least 8 years post-qualification legal experience, preferably including 4+ years in an in-house role.
- Strong, practical knowledge of Singapore commercial and contract law.
- Direct experience supporting commercial activities in at least two ASEAN jurisdictions (excluding Singapore); full regional coverage strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to draft and negotiate complex cross-border commercial and technology contracts independently.
- Strong commercial judgment and the ability to explain legal risks clearly to non-legal management.
- Professional fluency in written and spoken English.
- High standards of integrity, confidentiality, responsiveness and personal accountability.
Preferred Qualifications and Industry Experience
Candidates will be particularly relevant if they offer one or more of the following:
- Business proficiency in Mandarin, particularly for communication with Mandarin-speaking management and counterparties or review of Chinese-language commercial documents.
- Experience in Tier-1 global accelerator vendor partner ecosystems (Preferred/Elite tier partners, distributors, Solution Providers, OEMs or System Partners).
- Experience in enterprise technology, advanced compute / AI accelerator infrastructure, hyperscale facilities, cloud and edge platforms, hardware distribution or systems integration.
- Experience in distributed ledger technologies, digital-asset platforms or decentralised compute businesses.
- Experience in technology companies operating through channel-partner, reseller, OEM or system-integration models.
