Job Summary
Lead nursery operations to ensure the healthy growth and quality of tropical plants, driving efficient inventory management and team performance to support successful landscaping projects.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily nursery operations including propagation, potting, watering, and fertilizing diverse tropical plant species to ensure optimal growth and quality
- Maintain accurate inventory records and coordinate plant distribution to multiple project sites to meet delivery schedules
- Monitor plant health by identifying pests and diseases and implement integrated pest management (IPM) and treatment plans to maintain plant vitality
- Lead and train nursery workers in horticultural best practices, safety protocols, and proper equipment use to enhance team productivity and safety
- Ensure all plants meet project specifications for health and appearance prior to installation, upholding quality standards
- Collaborate with external suppliers to procure new plant stock, soil media, and specialized fertilizers to support nursery needs
- Oversee maintenance of nursery infrastructure including irrigation systems and greenhouses to ensure operational reliability
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Horticulture, Botany, or a related field
- Proven experience in nursery management or commercial plant production
- Strong knowledge of tropical plants, soil science, and irrigation requirements
- Physical fitness and willingness to work in an outdoor nursery environment
- Class 3 driving license (advantageous for coordinating stock transfers)
