Lab Technician

CONTRACT ROLE: - 2 YEAR
SHIFT WORK - Day & Night
Weekdays and weekends work
1. The person will work on a shift pattern of 12 hours each shift.
a. Day shift (M): 7.30am - 7.30pm
b. Night Shift (N) : 7.30pm - 7.30am

MAIN FUNCTIONS

Support/assist the lab supervisors/chemists by performing routine and non-routine laboratory analysis/wet chemistry on product and in-process samples, to support plant operations for the purpose of quality assurance/control. Perform calibration and maintenance of test equipment.
Prepare samples and ensure accurate data generation and records, in accordance with the standard operating procedures. Utilize analytical instruments to address quality assurance/control issues. Prepare chemical stock solutions and reagents, as well as set preparation standards. Position will receive direction and support. Works with moderate work direction and is skilled and knowledgeable to the position.

Lab Operations
. Performs QC analysis of products and raw material samples according to in-house, ASTM, and other approved test methods
. Enters test data into QALIMS for generation of reports and batch release.
. Ensures that all testing raw data and results are recorded in a timely manner and in conformance to DIAF requirements.
. Ensures that raw data and records are retained in the respective files according to established document retention guidelines.
. Assists in troubleshooting of instruments in out-of-control situations.

. Assists Chemist in investigating manufacturing and product quality issues e.g. conducting hand blends and testing activities.
. Covers duties of other laboratory technicians during absences and provide support for overtime work outside of normal working hours.
. Perform any other tasks as assigned by Chemist / Technical Manager Security, Safety, Health and the Environment
. Follows standard operating procedure, work instruction
. Adheres to correct use of PPE
. Participates in safety walks, inspection, near miss reporting, PSMS activities (e.g. LMRA) and Safe Work Committee
. Ensures compliance on waste disposals in accordance to regulatory requirements and company environmental policies and ISO 14001 Controls
. Ensures adherence of established procedures/work instructions to meet controls requirements.
. Participates in implementation of the Quality Assurance System, including various QC Tools such as SQC activities, Crosscheck Program participation, Test Method Assessments and Test Process Checks etc.
. Performs corrective and preventive actions following non-conformances and out-of-control situations.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Polytechnic graduate with the background in Chemical/Process/Technical Engineering. Computer-literate. Preferable experience in quality control systems.
