Job Description: Kubernetes Migration Technical Lead (Grade 6)

Location- Singapore

Contract Duration: 12 Months

Job Summary:

The Kubernetes Migration Technical Lead is a senior engineering role responsible for leading container platform and Kubernetes migration initiatives to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS). This role oversees container modernization strategy, CI/CD integration, ingress and networking architecture, workload migration, and operational readiness.

In addition, the role operates within a managed services environment, providing advanced (L4) technical support for complex escalations while ensuring service stability, performance, and continuous improvement across cloud-native platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

Kubernetes Migration Leadership & Strategy

·       Lead end-to-end Kubernetes and container platform migration initiatives to Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).

·       Define container modernization strategies including replatforming and microservices adoption.

·       Oversee migration lifecycle including assessment, design, deployment, validation, cutover, and stabilization.

·       Ensure technical integrity and governance of container migration workstreams.

·       Define best practices for container architecture, scalability, resilience, and security.

·       Collaborate with application teams, DevOps, and stakeholders to align migration outcomes with business objectives.

Container Platform Architecture & Engineering

·       Design and implement AKS environments, including cluster architecture, networking, and ingress configurations.

·       Oversee containerization using Docker and Kubernetes best practices.

·       Manage deployment strategies using Helm charts, YAML manifests, and GitOps approaches.

·       Define and implement observability, logging, and monitoring frameworks.

·       Drive adoption of Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) and automation practices.

CI/CD & DevOps Integration

·       Lead integration of CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, etc.) for containerized workloads.

·       Ensure automated build, test, and deployment processes for Kubernetes environments.

·       Promote DevOps best practices and continuous delivery models.

Advanced Technical Support & Operations

·       Work independently to resolve escalated incidents and service requests within SLA timelines.

·       Provide fourth-level support for complex Kubernetes, container, and cloud-related issues.

·       Perform root cause analysis and implement long-term fixes.

·       Act as escalation point for critical business-impacting incidents.

·       Proactively identify issues and drive preventive measures.

Service Delivery & Continuous Improvement

·       Ensure delivery of contracted managed services outcomes and operational excellence.

·       Support, track, and document change implementation activities.

·       Drive automation initiatives to optimize operations and reduce manual effort.

·       Conduct quality audits and improve service delivery processes.

·       Support disaster recovery planning and operational readiness for container platforms.

Stakeholder Management & Team Leadership

·       Engage with stakeholders across business and IT functions.

·       Mentor and coach L1–L3 engineers and Kubernetes engineers, building team capability.

·       Coordinate cross-functional teams including cloud, networking, security, and DevOps.

·       Support project delivery activities alongside operational responsibilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

·      8–12 years of overall infrastructure/platform engineering experience.

·      Minimum 4+ years of hands-on experience with Kubernetes and Azure container platforms.

·      Strong expertise in:

-           Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)

-           Kubernetes administration and architecture

-           Docker and containerization

-           Helm charts and ingress controllers

-           CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices

-           Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform, Bicep, etc.)

-           Observability and monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Azure Monitor, etc.)

·      Proven experience in enterprise container platform migration projects.

·      Strong troubleshooting skills across cloud-native environments.

Qualifications and Certifications :

·      Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent experience).

·      Preferred certifications:

-           Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) / CKAD

-           Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert or Azure Developer Associate

-           DevOps certifications (Azure DevOps, GitHub, etc.)

·       Additional cloud-native and container certifications are advantageous.
