Job Summary
Join Meating Place as a Kitchen Assistant to prepare ingredients, support the kitchen team, and maintain cleanliness while developing your culinary skills in a friendly environment.
Responsibilities
- Wash, peel, cut, and prepare vegetables, meat, and other ingredients to support kitchen operations
- Prepare ingredients before service (mise en place) to ensure smooth kitchen workflow
- Assemble simple dishes following established recipes to assist cooks during service
- Clean kitchen counters, tools, and equipment after every shift to maintain hygiene standards
- Store food correctly and inspect stock freshness to prevent spoilage and ensure quality
- Follow food safety and hygiene rules to maintain a safe kitchen environment
- Assist cooks and kitchen team with additional kitchen duties as needed to support daily operations
Required competencies and certifications
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate to comply with food safety regulations
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Basic knife cutting skills including cutting, chopping, and slicing to prepare ingredients efficiently
- Ability to communicate in basic spoken English to coordinate with team members
- Willingness to learn and consistently give best effort during shifts
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Availability to work weekends and public holidays to meet operational needs
