We are looking for a proactive and commercially minded Modern Trade & Retail Growth Manager to lead and grow our presence across supermarkets and convenience store chains. This is a hands-on managerial role that combines key account ownership, retail execution leadership, and business growth strategy.
You will be responsible for driving sell-through performance, identifying product and channel opportunities, leading the merchandiser team, and working cross-functionally to grow the modern trade business sustainably.
Key Responsibilities
A. Key Account & Commercial Management
- Manage and grow relationships with major supermarket and convenience store buyers
- Lead negotiations on listings, pricing, trade terms, shelf space, and promotional placements
- Ensure timely submission of listing applications, trade promotions, and new product proposals
- Serve as the main point of contact for modern trade partners
B. Retail Execution & Merchandiser Leadership
- Lead, train, and manage supermarket merchandisers, including setting weekly priorities and store coverage plans
- Conduct regular store audits and merchandiser check-ins to ensure execution standards are met
- Ensure consistent execution of planograms, promotions, sampling activities, and display guidelines
- Address out-of-stock issues and coordinate corrective actions with operations and logistics teams
C. Performance Tracking & Business Insights
- Track sell-through, store-level performance, and OOS trends across retail accounts
- Analyse data to identify underperforming SKUs, stores, or promotions
- Propose corrective actions to improve sales velocity, availability, and execution quality
- Prepare regular performance reports and insights for management
D. Product Opportunity & Portfolio Growth
- Identify product, pack size, pricing, and flavour opportunities within modern trade channels
- Gather buyer, store, and shopper insights to recommend new product ideas or improvements
- Review portfolio performance and recommend SKU rationalisation, expansion, or channel exclusives
- Support seasonal and strategic launches (e.g. CNY, Ramadan, national campaigns)
E. Retail Marketing & Campaign Execution
- Plan and execute retail marketing campaigns in collaboration with the marketing team
- Organise in-store sampling, demo activations, and promotional initiatives
- Evaluate campaign ROI and recommend improvements for future executions
F. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with operations, logistics, and production teams to ensure supply continuity
- Address stock discrepancies, delivery issues, and product complaints from retail partners
- Support forecasting and planning to align sales, production, and inventory needs
Requirements
- Minimum 5-7 years of experience in FMCG retail sales, modern trade, or key account management
- Strong understanding of supermarket operations, retail execution, and trade marketing
- Proven experience leading or managing field teams (merchandisers or promoters)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to translate data into action
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills
- Highly organised, proactive, and able to work independently
- Experience in frozen or chilled food categories is preferred
