Description
We are hiring for our Energy Commodity Derivatives business across the Asian time zone. This is a high impact role for a candidate currently in a desk analyst / trading analyst seat (1-2 years experience) who is ready to transition into a live trading mandate.
You will support and gradually take over responsibilities in pricing client hedges, managing intraday risk, maintaining inventory positions, and converting high quality market analysis into risk aware flow execution. This is not a pure proprietary trading role it is a commercial franchise role centered on client flows, disciplined risk warehousing, and responsible market making.

The main responsibilities are:
Flow Trading & Pricing
- Price and execute client hedging flows across oil and gas derivatives (futures, swaps, options) with tight discipline around market conventions, liquidity windows, and bid/offer calibration.
- Support senior traders in marketmaking, twoway pricing, and managing inventory during Asian hours.
- Assist in warehousing shortterm risk, understanding carry, roll, curve dynamics and risk transfer to global books.
Market Analysis & Trade Support
- Conduct market analysis on crude, products, and gas fundamentals, including flows, storage, refinery margins, freight, and macro trends.
- Produce concise morning notes, intraday updates, and volatility/curve commentary for senior traders and sales.
- Monitor and interpret data from Bloomberg, Kepler, Platts/OPIS and other commodity platforms to help shape pricing decisions.
Risk & Controls
- Assist with intraday limit monitoring, Greeks awareness, and scenario/stress checks.
- Perform accurate trade capture, hedge tagging, and reconciliation in coordination with middle office and risk.
- Ensure strict compliance with firstline control standards, regulatory expectations, and operational procedures.
Analytics & Tooling
- Maintain and enhance desk tools for pricing, risk, and data visualization using Python, SQL, Excel/VBA (or similar) and modern AIassisted development tools.
- Use AI coding assistants appropriately, while demonstrating deep comprehension of the logic, assumptions, and ability to correct or extend code independently.
- Collaborate with quants/tech to improve models, data pipelines, and workflow automation.
Collaboration & Communication
- Interface with Sales, Structuring, Risk, and Global Trading Books to deliver seamless fronttoback execution.
- Present market insights, trading rationale, and risk updates clearly and concisely.
- Act as a reliable point of coverage during the Asian trading session.
YOUR PROFILE
Minimum Qualifications (Hard Requirements)
- 1-3 years of experience as a desk analyst, trading analyst, or junior risk analyst at a leading energy major, trading house, or investment bank active in oil/gas derivatives.
- Demonstrated exposure to oil and gas markets (crude, products, LNG/gas benchmarks, spreads, or optionality).
- Strong familiarity with Asiatime market structure, liquidity patterns, key exchanges (CME/NYMEX, ICE, DME), and benchmark dynamics.
- Proven ability to work with market data providers such as Bloomberg, Kpler, Platts/OPIS, and refinery/freight datasets.
- Solid grounding in derivatives basics (futures, swaps, options), Greeks awareness, forward curves, and termstructure logic.
- Strong analytical toolkit: Python, Excel/VBA, with the ability to build and maintain functional desk tools.
- Ability to use AI coding tools effectively while demonstrating true conceptual understanding of underlying code and models.
- Exceptional ability to synthesize large volumes of data and distill clear, actionable insights for pricing and risk management.
- High attention to detail, strong control mindset, and comfort working under time pressure on a trading floor.
Preferred Qualifications (Strong Pluses)
- Experience supporting flow trading, sales & trading, market making, or hedging franchise desks.
- Exposure to trade lifecycle management systems and familiarity with fronttoback trade flows.
- Understanding of refinery economics, LNG/gas flows, ship tracking, storage, basis spreads, and crosscommodity linkages.
- Knowledge of vol surfaces, simple optionpricing logic, and volatility term structure.
- Prior experience producing market commentary, trading prep, or analytics for a live desk.
