We are looking for a committed Junior Sous Chef to join our kitchen team and contribute to a dining experience that is refined, grounded, and quietly memorable.
Job Summary
The Junior Sous Chef works closely with the Executive Chef to lead daily kitchen operations. You'll set and maintain high culinary standards, develop and mentor the kitchen team, and contribute to menu development-all while working hands-on during service. This role suits someone who takes pride in their craft and is ready to step into greater kitchen leadership.
Key Responsibilities
Kitchen Operations & Culinary Standards
- Work closely with the Executive Chef to ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen operations
- Prepare and execute dishes to the highest standard, ensuring consistency, quality, and attention to detail
- Handle and prepare a variety of raw fish, seafood, and ingredients as part of daily mise en place
- Maintain full awareness of all menu items, recipes, production methods, and presentation standards
- Contribute to new menu development and seasonal recipe testing alongside the culinary leadership team
- Ensure proper preservation standards and correct handling of all food products at appropriate temperatures
- Assist with cost control by managing ingredients responsibly and minimising waste
Service & Guest Experience
- Participate actively in service-cooking and plating dishes alongside the team during peak hours
- Be confident in describing menu items, ingredients, and preparation methods to both staff and guests
- Handle guest feedback on food with professionalism and care
Team & Leadership
- Train, coach, and support junior kitchen staff to maintain consistency and confidence
- Assist in planning schedules to ensure the kitchen is adequately covered across all shifts
- Support the Executive Chef in handling team performance, feedback, and day-to-day challenges
- Contribute to a positive, respectful, and growth-oriented kitchen culture
Health, Safety & Housekeeping
- Ensure the kitchen meets hygiene, sanitation, and safety standards at all times
- Enforce proper food labelling, storage, and handling practices
- Conduct daily checks of freezers and chillers, keeping records up to date
- Report equipment faults or maintenance needs promptly
Locations
- The Star Vista (next to Buona Vista MRT) - Breaks: 2 hrs (Weekdays), 1.5 hrs (Sat/Sun/PH)
- Millenia Walk (above Promenade MRT) - Breaks: 1.5 hrs (All days)
The Offer
- Salary: $3,400 - $3,800/month
- Job Type: Full-time, Permanent
- Schedule: 5-day work week, day shifts between 10:30am - 9:30/10:00pm

- At least 2 years of professional kitchen experience
- Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred
