We are seeking a passionate and service-oriented Junior Sommelier / Assistant Sommelier to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess strong wine knowledge, excellent customer service skills, and a genuine passion for food and beverage experiences.
You will play a key role in enhancing guests dining experience through professional wine recommendations, beverage service, and maintaining wine inventory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Recommend and serve wines according to guests preferences and menu selections
- Provide knowledgeable pairing suggestions to enhance the dining experience
- Assist in managing wine inventory, stock rotation, and cellar organisation
- Ensure proper wine storage and handling procedures are maintained
- Conduct tableside wine service professionally and confidently
- Support the restaurant team in delivering exceptional customer service
- Assist with beverage menu updates and wine promotions
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of wine storage and service areas
- Stay updated on wine regions, varietals, vintages, and industry trends
Requirements
- WSET certification or equivalent wine knowledge preferred
- Previous experience in a fine dining restaurant is preferred
- Passion for wines, spirits, and guest engagement
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn
- Able to work rotating shifts, weekends, and public holidays
- Team player with a customer-focused mindset
