Job Summary
The Network Infrastructure Specialist will design, implement, and support network infrastructure per project requirements, ensuring system availability, performance, and security. Collaborate with project teams to troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance network environments using hands-on expertise with network hardware, software, and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Design, configure, and deploy network infrastructure solutions including LAN/WAN, wireless, VPN, and VNET to meet project and company needs
- Plan and execute network appliance upgrades and new installations following industry best practices
- Monitor network performance continuously to ensure reliability and optimal operation
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity, performance, and security issues promptly
- Conduct proactive network health checks and capacity planning to prevent disruptions
- Implement and maintain network security protocols such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, and segmentation to protect infrastructure
- Collaborate with cybersecurity teams to safeguard networks against internal and external threats
- Integrate and manage network security tools including AD, MFA authenticator, Clearpass, ESXi, PMP, PIM, PAM, ELA, SIEM, SEM, SEP, SCOM, and products like F5, CyberArk, CypherTrust, ManageEngine, SolarWinds, Symantec, and CyberNet
- Apply patching and firmware upgrades to network devices as required
- Analyze network traffic and performance metrics to identify and implement optimization opportunities
- Maintain detailed documentation of network architecture, configurations, and troubleshooting procedures
- Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and infrastructure status for management review
- Develop and maintain backup and restore solutions for network appliance configurations to enable quick recovery
- Collaborate with internal teams including technical managers, system engineers, cyber specialists, and developers to support network requirements for projects
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior network team members
- Liaise with hardware and software vendors to manage support, maintenance, procurement, and timely resolution of network-related issues
Required competencies and certifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or related field, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 6 years of hands-on experience in network infrastructure design, implementation, and administration
- Proficient with enterprise-level networking equipment such as routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless access points
- Solid knowledge of networking protocols and technologies including TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, DNS, DHCP, VPN, VLANs, MPLS, and QoS
- Skilled in using network troubleshooting tools like Wireshark and PingPlotter
- Experienced with network monitoring and management platforms such as SolarWinds and PRTG
- Strong understanding of network security best practices and tools
- Knowledgeable in cloud networking (AWS, Azure) and hybrid network environments
- Experienced with SD-WAN and VPN technologies
- Strong problem-solving, analytical, verbal, and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in teams
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) or higher certifications (CCNP, CCIE)
- CompTIA Network+ certification
- Juniper Networks Certified Internet Associate (JNCIA)
- Familiarity with scripting or automation tools for network management (e.g., Python, Ansible)
- Experience with data center operations and virtualized networking (VMware NSX, Hyper-V, ESXi)
- Experience integrating cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and designing hybrid/cloud network environments
- Familiarity with ITIL frameworks or other network service management models
