Position overview:

Our client, a fast-growing energy trading house, is seeking a Junior Middle Officer to support its trading activities in physical refined oil products and related derivatives.

This is an excellent entry-level opportunity for a detail-oriented, analytically minded individual eager to build a career in commodities trading and risk management. The role will involve assisting with the monitoring of trading positions, validating data accuracy, and supporting both risk management and operational processes.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Trade Support

- Deal entry and validation of derivative and physical trades into the CTRM system (ION Aspect)

- Uploading and maintenance of daily settlement and forward price curves

- Help reconcile trading data between front-office systems and internal reports.

- Work closely with trading, operations, and finance teams to resolve discrepancies.

2. Position and P&L Monitoring

- Daily generations of trading positions, pricing and profit & loss reports.

- Help identify and escalate any inconsistencies or issues in reported data.

3. Risk Reporting

- Contribute to the preparation of daily and weekly risk reports.

- Learn to monitor basic market and credit risk indicators under guidance.

4. System and Process Support

- Assist in maintaining and updating the CTRM system (ION Aspect).

- Help with basic reporting tasks using Excel and other software tools.

- Participate in system testing and documentation efforts.

5. Operational Efficiency

- Support process improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies.

- Help document procedures and contribute ideas for better workflows.

6. Compliance and Controls

- Learn about internal risk policies and compliance requirements.

- Assist in preparing data for regulatory and internal reporting.

Qualifications

- Bachelors degree in finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related field.

- Internship or up to 12 years of experience in a finance, trading, or operations role (commodities exposure is a plus).

- Strong Excel skills; familiarity with data tools like SQL or Python is a bonus.

- Good attention to detail and willingness to learn.

- Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred Skills

- Exposure to CTRM systems (e.g., ION Aspect) is a plus.

- Basic understanding of trading commodity markets and derivatives.

- Interest in risk management and operational processes.
