Junior Legal Counsel / Inhouse Lawyer

This company is a regional headquarters for a global group with a strong presence across Southeast Asia and Oceania. It operates in a highly regulated industry and manages multiple affiliated entities across the region. The Singapore office oversees regional corporate planning, legal, and compliance functions, supporting both local operations and regional subsidiaries.

Role Summary
The Legal Counsel will be part of the Corporate Planning, Legal & Compliance team, supporting legal matters for both the Singapore office and affiliated companies in the SEA and Oceania region. This is a broad in-house legal role that covers contract management, regulatory advisory, compliance matters, and dispute resolution. The position offers regional exposure and cross-functional collaboration, reporting directly to the Senior Manager.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents for both local and regional operations
• Provide legal advice on corporate, commercial, and regulatory issues
• Support compliance efforts related to antitrust, anti-corruption, data privacy, and trade regulations
• Assist in managing disputes, litigation, and arbitration processes
• Work closely with internal departments and external counsel to manage legal risks
• Monitor regulatory changes and communicate their business impact
• Perform additional legal or compliance-related tasks as needed

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Law and admission to the Singapore Bar (mandatory)
• 3 to 5 years in a law firm or in-house legal team, ideally in an international business setting
• Strong understanding of contract law and regulatory compliance
• Excellent communication skills in English (written and verbal)
• Able to manage multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment

Preferred:

• Familiarity with maritime law, M&A, trade compliance, or regional regulations
• Japanese language skills for coordination with regional stakeholders
