Job Summary
We are looking for a motivated Junior Interior Designer to support the design and delivery of corporate, laboratory, and cleanroom interior projects. This role is ideal for an early-career designer who is passionate about creating functional, safe, compliant, and brand-aligned work environments. You will work closely with senior designers, project teams, consultants, vendors, and clients to develop design concepts, prepare documentation, and contribute to projects from concept through completion. Prior exposure to laboratory planning, cleanroom environments, controlled environments, or technical workplace projects will be highly regarded.
Responsibilities
- Assist in developing workplace, laboratory, and cleanroom design concepts, space plans, mood boards, material palettes, and presentation materials to support project goals
- Prepare and update drawings, layouts, schedules, specifications, and design documentation under senior team guidance to ensure accuracy and compliance
- Support selection of furniture, fixtures, finishes, equipment, and technical products for corporate, laboratory, and cleanroom interior projects to meet design intent
- Conduct research on materials, products, workplace trends, laboratory planning, cleanroom design considerations, sustainability, and design precedents to inform design decisions
- Prepare PowerPoint presentation decks for client meetings, internal design reviews, concept presentations, and project updates to communicate design ideas effectively
- Participate in client, consultant, vendor, and contractor meetings to facilitate collaboration and project coordination
- Assist with site surveys, measurements, site visits, and project coordination activities to support project delivery
- Coordinate with internal teams and external partners to ensure clear communication of design intent, technical requirements, and project constraints
- Maintain organized project files, samples, schedules, and documentation throughout the design process to support efficient project management
- Support senior designers in resolving design, coordination, or documentation issues during project delivery to maintain project quality and timelines
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma or degree in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Architecture, or a related field
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in interior design, workplace design, commercial interiors, laboratory interiors, cleanroom projects, or related environments
- Basic understanding of space planning, design principles, materials, finishes, furniture systems, and technical interior requirements to support design tasks
- Proficiency in design and documentation software such as AutoCAD, SketchUp, Enscape, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, or similar tools to produce design deliverables
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time-management skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Effective communication skills to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including consultants, engineers, vendors, and contractors
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced project environment
- A portfolio demonstrating design thinking, technical ability, creativity, and presentation skills
- Knowledge of laboratory planning, cleanroom environments, controlled environments, ISO classifications, GMP considerations, or related technical design requirements is a strong advantage
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Interest in corporate workplace strategy, employee experience, and future-of-work trends to enhance design relevance
- Knowledge of sustainable materials, wellness-focused design, accessibility, and inclusive workplace design principles to support innovative solutions
- Experience preparing presentation decks, material boards, rendered views, or 3D visualizations to enhance client communication
- Proficiency in preparing clear and visually engaging PowerPoint presentations for design concepts, materials, layouts, and project progress updates
- Familiarity with workplace furniture systems, finishes, lighting, acoustic considerations, laboratory casework, cleanroom finishes, airlocks, gowning areas, and people/material flow planning to support specialized design needs
- Awareness of coordination requirements for M&E, HVAC, containment, pressure cascade, and specialist equipment in laboratory or cleanroom projects to facilitate integrated design
