Junior Cloud Operations Engineer

Summary:

We are seeking an experienced IT/Cloud Operations Engineer to manage the deployment, integration, and ongoing operations of systems hosted within a government commercial cloud environment. This role requires strong technical expertise in cloud technologies, scripting, and system integration, along with a solid understanding of government regulations and security compliance standards.

You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of cloud-based applications while adhering to strict government guidelines.

Key Responsibilities:

Deployment & Integration

• Deploy software releases across government cloud environments (QA and Production).

• Perform technical configurations and support testing and troubleshooting activities.

• Coordinate with third parties on data link setup, firewall configurations, and integration testing.

• Act as the main liaison with the Client and government cloud provider for deployment-related matters.

• Develop and maintain scripts to support integration between systems and services when required.

Operations & Maintenance

• Oversee day-to-day operations of applications hosted on government cloud infrastructure.

• Ensure system availability, performance, and security compliance.

• Manage security-related activities, including patch advisories, audits, and continuity planning.

• Serve as the point of contact for incidents, ensuring timely resolution and root cause analysis.

• Recommend and implement improvements to enhance monitoring, performance, and reliability.

• Maintain accurate system documentation, configurations, and operational procedures.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related discipline.

• Minimum 2 years of IT operations experience in enterprise or government environments.

• Strong knowledge of cloud platforms such as Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure.

• Familiarity with government regulations and security standards (e.g., ICT&SS Management, Digital Service Standards) will be an added advantage.

• Experience with both Windows and Unix environments.

• Proficiency in scripting (Shell, PowerShell, Python) and ETL processes.

• Good understanding of web technologies and database management, including SQL.

• Experience with Microsoft SQL Server and PostgreSQL is advantageous.

• Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VMware and Hyper-V.

• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
