Junior Chartering Executive - Oil Trading Company

Description

Our client is a well-established energy trading company with strategic assets in oil and refined products and a strong presence across Asian markets. They are currently seeking a CPP Tanker Charterer to join their dynamic shipping team in Singapore.

Role

Reporting to the Head of Chartering, the Charterer will be responsible for identifying and executing spot and term chartering opportunities for CPP (Clean Petroleum Products) tankers in line with the company's trading strategies. This includes analyzing freight markets, vessel positioning, and cargo flows to optimize shipping economics. The role involves negotiating charter party terms, managing voyage execution, and working closely with traders and operations teams to maximize commercial value. You will provide market insights, freight assessments, and strategic recommendations, while monitoring vessel performance and ensuring efficient deployment. In addition, you will maintain relationships with shipowners, brokers, and internal stakeholders, stay updated on market trends, and utilize systems such as IMOS to manage fixtures, contracts, and voyage data effectively.

Requirements

The successful candidate should ideally hold a degree in Maritime Studies or a related discipline, with 3-5 years of relevant experience in tanker chartering or ship broking. A strong understanding of clean tanker markets, freight dynamics, and voyage economics is essential. You should possess solid analytical skills, with the ability to interpret market data and freight trends to support commercial decisions. Strong negotiation and communication skills, good commercial acumen, and familiarity with charter party terms are key to success in this role.
