The Straits Times, the English flagship daily published by SPH Media, is the most widely read newspaper in Singapore. We have been serving readers since 1845, and aim to provide them with comprehensive coverage of news not just in Singapore but also the region and world.

We are seeking a talented, resourceful and digitally-savvy journalist to join the ST Now desk, to create compelling content for both our digital and print platforms. You will be responsible for handling breaking news, as well as pitching and curating content of interest to The Straits Times local and global audiences.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Writing up breaking news under tight deadlines
• Generating own news stories, with an eye for surfacing compelling and trending content
• Monitoring analytics and adjusting strategy as needed to optimise KPIs
• Creating content for digital products such as social media and live blogs

We are looking for professionals with the following:

• Passion for the ST brand
• At least 3 or more years of experience in journalism digital news preferred
• Ability to work under tight deadline pressure
• Excellent command of English and strong writing skills
• Knowledge of multi-platform news-gathering tools and resources
• Must have a nose for interesting information and trending news
• Ability to work independently as well as in a team
• Willingness to work on shifts, weekends and/or public holidays where needed
• Being effectively bilingual or multi-lingual would be an asset
