About Us

SPH Media's mission is to be the trusted source of news and lifestyle content in Singapore and Asia. One of our core purposes is to produce credible, balanced, and objective news and analysis, always with a view to uphold the public good and fostering an informed, engaged citizenry. We welcome talented individuals to join us and grow a career in a vibrant and collaborative environment built around a culture of respect and inclusivity. As an employer, we are committed to rewarding our people fairly and developing them in their careers.

The Straits Times, the English flagship daily published by SPH Media, is the most widely read newspaper in Singapore. We have been serving readers since 1845, and aim to provide them with comprehensive coverage of news not just in Singapore but also the region and world.

About the Role

As a journalist on The Straits Times education team, you will develop, write and produce stories, in-depth features and other forms of content with a focus on Singapore's education coverage for the national broadsheet's platforms.

You will delve into issues shaping Singapore's education system, from social mobility and student well-being to school reforms and the future of learning. You will examine the changes and challenges faced in education, in response to societal needs and workforce demands, while spotlighting gaps and highlighting potential solutions.

You should have strong news sense and judgment, the ability to bring in exclusive stories, spot emerging trends, and work both independently and as part of a team. In addition, you should be an engaging, fast and organised writer who can put together stories in a compelling way to inform our readers.

Your work will appear online and in print, and may also take the form of multimedia content, including videos, podcasts, interactive graphics and other visual storytelling formats.
