Job Description

We are looking for a skilled Jira Developer to customize, automate, and optimize our Atlassian environment, with a primary emphasis on ScriptRunner (Groovy). In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to transform business requirements into efficient, scalable workflows and automated solutions. Your expertise will directly drive process efficiency and continuous improvement across our organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advanced Customization: Design, build, and maintain sophisticated Jira enhancements using ScriptRunner, including scripted fields, custom JQL, behaviors, listeners, scheduled jobs, endpoints, and workflow conditions/validators/post-functions.

  • Jira Administration: Configure and manage core Jira elements such as projects, complex workflows, custom fields, permission schemes, and analytics dashboards.

  • Process Automation: Architect and deploy automated workflows using a combination of ScriptRunner and native Jira automation rules.

  • System Integration: Develop and support seamless integrations between Jira and external platforms utilizing REST APIs and webhooks.

  • Requirements Gathering: Partner with business stakeholders to translate operational needs into technical specifications and sustainable solutions.

  • Maintenance & Optimization: Troubleshoot system issues, debug code, optimize performance, and assist with platform upgrades or migrations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related discipline (or equivalent hands-on experience).

  • Core Experience: Proven track record as a Jira Developer or Advanced Atlassian Administrator.

  • Technical Expertise: Strong proficiency in Groovy and/or Java, with deep, hands-on experience writing ScriptRunner scripts for Jira.

  • Platform Knowledge: Solid grasp of Jira administration architecture, including schemes, permissions, and workflow logic.

  • Integration Skills: Practical experience working with REST APIs to connect disparate systems.

  • Professional Attributes: Familiarity with Git for version control, paired with strong analytical problem-solving, communication, and collaborative skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with the broader Atlassian suite (Confluence, Bitbucket, Jira Service Management).

  • Familiarity with both Jira Cloud and Data Center architectures, including migration experience.

  • Exposure to Agile/Scrum frameworks and modern CI/CD pipelines.

  • Official Atlassian or ScriptRunner certifications.

  • Experience with other popular third-party Jira apps and marketplace plugins.
