JC History Tutor

Responsibilities

. Plan and deliver engaging JC History lessons aligned with Singapore MOE JC syllabus.

. Assess students learning needs and customise lesson plans to strengthen content knowledge and examination skills.

. Teach significant historical events, developments, personalities, and turning points within their respective contexts.

. Help students understand chronology, cause and effect, change and continuity, and the significance of historical developments.

. Develop students ability to interpret sources, evaluate reliability and utility, compare perspectives, and identify purpose.

. Guide students in answering source-based, structured, and essay questions with relevant evidence and clear arguments.

.Encourage students to examine different historical interpretations and form balanced, evidence-based conclusions.

. Mark assignments, monitor student progress, and provide timely, constructive feedback.

. Prepare students for school assessments and national examinations.

. Develop students historical awareness, critical thinking, analytical writing, and reasoning skills.

. Create a positive, engaging, and disciplined learning environment.

. Communicate professionally with parents regarding students academic progress.

. Develop teaching resources, timelines, source materials, case studies, and examination-practice activities.

. Uphold ATOP Academy's teaching standards, values, and commitment to academic excellence.

Requirements

. GCE A-Level, Diploma, Degree, or equivalent qualification in Education, History, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.

. Good command of spoken and written English.

. Strong historical knowledge and proficiency in source analysis and essay writing.

. Familiarity with the Singapore MOE JC History syllabus and assessment requirements.

. Ability to explain complex historical developments clearly and objectively.

. Passion for teaching and supporting JC school students.

. Strong communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.

. Responsible, patient, enthusiastic, and committed to student success.

. Prior teaching or tutoring experience is an advantage but not required.
