Senior Software Engineer - Scala/Java (12-Month Contract, Extendable)

Location: Singapore

Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver robust, scalable technology solutions that meet business requirements. You will collaborate with regional and global teams to build new functionalities, drive software engineering best practices, and mentor junior developers in a fast-paced Agile environment.

This is a 12-month contract with potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop robust and scalable technology solutions using modern software development best practices.
• Collaborate with regional and global teams to design and build new functionalities using Scala/Java and shared technology platforms.
• Communicate technical designs and solutions effectively with cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
• Coach and mentor a team of software engineers, promoting engineering excellence and best practices.
• Apply event sourcing, CQRS, design patterns, and clean code principles to deliver high-quality solutions.
• Write well-tested code using Test Driven Development (TDD), Specification by Example, BDD/ATDD, and Continuous Integration practices.
• Contribute to Agile/Scrum ceremonies and support continuous improvement initiatives.
• Work with SDLC automation tools including Jenkins, Gradle, GitHub, Artifactory, and Ansible.
• Optimize application performance and contribute to system design and architecture discussions.

Requirements:

• Strong hands-on experience developing applications using Scala and/or Java.
• Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and Functional Programming principles.
• Experience with Event Sourcing, CQRS, design patterns, and software engineering best practices.
• Strong understanding of algorithms and code optimization techniques.
• Experience with TDD, BDD/ATDD, and Continuous Integration.
• Hands-on experience with Jenkins, Gradle, GitHub, Artifactory, and Ansible.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to Have

• Experience with ReactJS, AngularJS, or Elasticsearch.
• Knowledge of AMPS messaging infrastructure and SQL/database programming.
• Understanding of Capital Markets, particularly securities trade processing, clearing, and settlements.
