About Company

The company is a digital engineering firm founded in 2020, headquartered in Tampa, Florida. It operates from seven global offices across Toronto, Dallas, Belgrade, Johannesburg, Bogota, Bangalore, and Trivandrum.

With 450+ professionals, it delivers AI-driven digital transformation and platform engineering for enterprises. The firm has completed 55+ projects across 25+ countries.

In 2023, it expanded its product engineering capabilities through a strategic acquisition. It is fast-growing, led by seasoned executives, and built on values of ownership, speed, and client-centricity.

Position Overview

This role leads the architectural strategy for enterprise-grade retail and fashion e-commerce platforms handling 10M+ daily transactions across multiple premium clothing brands and shopping chains. The architect will own end-to-end system design — from modernizing 15+ year-old Java monoliths using strangler fig patterns to building high-concurrency microservices capable of 50K+ concurrent connections at sub-100ms latency. The position carries direct influence over technology standards, AI/ML integration roadmaps, and the long-term platform evolution serving millions of customers across geographies.

Role & Responsibilities

  • Define and own enterprise Java architecture for multi-brand retail e-commerce platforms processing 10M+ daily transactions, including checkout, inventory, search, and order fulfillment services.
  • Lead legacy modernization initiatives for 15+ year-old Java monoliths — designing strangler fig extraction strategies, abstraction layers, and database migration paths (schema evolution, sharding, read replicas) without disrupting live production systems.
  • Architect microservices using Spring Boot and Spring Cloud with event-driven patterns via Kafka/RabbitMQ, covering service-to-service communication (REST, gRPC, async messaging), circuit breakers, saga patterns, and distributed transaction management.
  • Design data architecture supporting high-volume retail operations: relational stores (Oracle, PostgreSQL) for transactional data, NoSQL (MongoDB, Cassandra) for flexible schemas, Redis for caching, Elasticsearch for search, and ETL/ELT pipelines ingesting millions of daily events from POS, mobile, and in-store systems.
  • Architect containerized deployments on Kubernetes with service meshes (Istio/Linkerd), API gateways, multi-region cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and CI/CD pipelines with automated rollback strategies.
  • Design AI/ML integration patterns — embedding recommendation engines, demand forecasting, and LLM/LangChain-based capabilities into core Java microservices with real-time feature pipelines and model-serving infrastructure.
  • Establish architecture review boards, define technology standards, mentor senior engineers on Java best practices and distributed systems design, and drive the platform modernization roadmap in collaboration with executive stakeholders.

Must Have Criteria

  • 12+ years of professional Java development with 6+ years in an architect or principal engineer role designing systems at 1M+ daily transactions.
  • Expert-level Spring Framework, Spring Boot, and Spring Cloud — including JVM tuning, garbage collection optimization, thread pooling, and memory management.
  • 6+ years architecting legacy Java monolith modernization — demonstrated use of strangler fig patterns, incremental service extraction, and live production migrations without downtime.
  • 8+ years in retail, e-commerce, or fashion industry with hands-on knowledge of POS systems, omnichannel operations, SKU/size matrix management, and order fulfillment workflows.
  • Expert-level SQL and production-scale experience with Oracle and PostgreSQL — including query tuning, partitioning, sharding, and replication; plus NoSQL experience with MongoDB or Cassandra and Redis/Elasticsearch.
  • Production experience with Docker and Kubernetes, cloud infrastructure on AWS, Azure, or GCP at enterprise scale, and infrastructure-as-code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
  • Proven design of systems sustaining 50K+ concurrent users at <100ms response times, including PCI-DSS compliant payment architectures and multi-tenant data isolation.

Nice to Have

  • Hands-on experience with retail platforms such as SAP, Oracle Commerce Cloud, Salesforce Commerce Cloud, or Magento.
  • Experience with luxury or premium fashion retail operations — demand planning, seasonal collection management, or inventory optimization.
  • Familiarity with LangChain, RAG systems, or production recommendation engine integration within Java microservices.
  • AWS Solutions Architect, Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA), or equivalent advanced certification.
  • Published work, conference presentations, or open-source contributions in system architecture or large-scale modernization.

What We Offer

  • Architectural ownership of mission-critical Java platforms serving millions of users across multiple premier retail and fashion brands.
  • Direct influence on technology strategy and modernization roadmap across enterprise-scale e-commerce systems.
  • Professional development budget covering conferences, certifications, and continuing education.
