Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled Contract IT Network Project Engineer to support our organization's network infrastructure projects on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and optimizing enterprise network solutions, strong project execution capabilities, and solid vendor management experience.
Key Responsibilities
Network Design & Implementation
- Design, deploy, and troubleshoot LAN, WAN, WLAN, and VPN solutions.
- Configure switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless controllers.
- Ensure high availability, redundancy, and optimal performance across all network systems.
Project Execution & Coordination
- Lead and execute network projects including migrations, upgrades, integrations, and rollouts.
- Develop project plans, timelines, status reports, and technical documentation.
- Coordinate with internal teams, stakeholders, and project sponsors to ensure alignment and successful delivery.
Network Security & Compliance
- Assist in configuring and maintaining firewall policies and network access controls.
- Conduct security assessments and provide remediation recommendations.
- Support incident response for network-related security events.
Monitoring & Support
- Conduct performance analysis, capacity planning, and optimization.
- Provide Level 3 troubleshooting and escalation support.
- Maintain topology diagrams, configuration documentation, and procedures.
Skills & Qualifications
Required
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer or Network Project Engineer.
- Proficient with networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP).
- Experience with Cisco, Juniper, or equivalent enterprise platforms.
- Strong understanding of firewalls (Fortinet, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA, etc.).
- Experience managing vendors, procurement processes, and outsourced technical work.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Knowledge of structured cabling systems, fibre optics, and network connectivity.
- Familiarity with AutoCAD/Revit and telecom design software.
Preferred
- Certifications such as CCNA or equivalent.
- Experience with SDWAN, cloud networking (Azure/AWS), or automation tools.
- Familiarity with ITIL practices.
