Position Overview
The IT Infrastructure Team Lead will be responsible for leading the day-to-day management of the organisation's IT infrastructure environment while remaining hands-on in technical operations and project delivery.
The successful candidate will oversee infrastructure services, support technology transformation initiatives, lead infrastructure projects, and ensure the availability, security, and scalability of technology platforms supporting business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Infrastructure Operations & Support
- Manage and support enterprise infrastructure environments, including servers, networks, cloud services, storage, backup solutions, and end-user computing platforms.
- Monitor infrastructure performance, capacity, availability, and reliability.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex infrastructure incidents and technical issues.
- Maintain operational procedures, technical standards, and infrastructure documentation.
- Ensure infrastructure services meet agreed service levels and operational requirements.
Leadership & Team Management
- Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to infrastructure team members.
- Coordinate operational activities and prioritise infrastructure support requirements.
- Foster collaboration across IT teams, business stakeholders, and external partners.
- Support capability development and continuous improvement initiatives within the team.
Infrastructure Projects & Transformation
- Lead and participate in infrastructure implementation, migration, upgrade, and transformation projects.
- Support cloud adoption, infrastructure modernisation, and technology refresh initiatives.
- Collaborate with business and technology stakeholders to align infrastructure capabilities with organisational objectives.
- Manage project timelines, vendor coordination, and implementation activities.
Infrastructure Modernisation & AI Enablement
- Support infrastructure readiness for AI, automation, advanced analytics, and emerging technology initiatives.
- Evaluate infrastructure requirements to support data-intensive and AI-enabled solutions.
- Partner with stakeholders to identify opportunities for automation and operational efficiencies.
- Ensure infrastructure platforms remain scalable, secure, and capable of supporting future digital transformation initiatives.
- Recommend technology improvements aligned with the organisation's long-term technology strategy.
Security, Risk & Compliance
- Implement and maintain infrastructure security controls and best practices.
- Support cybersecurity initiatives, vulnerability management, and risk mitigation activities.
- Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity capabilities.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
Vendor & Service Management
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and external partners.
- Monitor vendor performance and service delivery standards.
- Participate in infrastructure planning, budgeting, and technology evaluation activities.
Requirements
- Degree, Diploma, or equivalent qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, network administration, or infrastructure engineering roles.
- Previous experience providing technical leadership, project leadership, or team supervision.
- Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies including Windows Server, Active Directory, Microsoft 365, and Azure.
- Experience supporting networking, virtualisation, storage, backup, and cloud environments.
- Good understanding of cybersecurity principles, infrastructure governance, and operational risk management.
- Experience managing infrastructure projects, vendors, and external service providers.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional certifications such as Microsoft, Azure, VMware, Cisco, ITIL, or equivalent.
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments.
- Exposure to automation technologies, AI infrastructure, or modern workplace platforms.
- Experience working within manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, distribution, or regulated environments would be advantageous.
