We are looking for an experienced Senior IT Infrastructure Support Engineer to join our banking IT team. This role is responsible for end-to-end support of Windows and Linux infrastructure, including system patching, performance optimization, incident handling, and operational improvement, while also providing oversight-level desktop support as part of daily IT operations.
The role requires strong hands-on technical capability, sound troubleshooting judgement, and the ability to operate independently in a regulated banking environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Infrastructure Operations & Support (Primary Responsibility)
- Provide senior-level operational support for Windows and Linux servers in production environments.
- Plan, execute, and validate OS patching, system upgrades, and security remediation activities.
- Lead incident investigation and root cause analysis for system-related issues.
- Proactively identify system weaknesses and drive performance, stability, and operational improvements.
- Perform system hardening and configuration reviews aligned with internal security standards.
- Support infrastructure components from an OS and virtualization environment (e.g. VMware).
- Respond to system alerts from monitoring tools and perform root cause analysis.
- Coordinate with vendors and Head Office IT teams on infrastructure-related matters.
2. Desktop & End-User Support (Secondary Responsibility)
- Provide day-to-day desktop and end-user support (hardware, OS, standard applications).
- Install, configure, and maintain desktops/laptops, printers, and related office IT equipment.
- Assist users with troubleshooting Windows OS, Microsoft Office, and common business applications.
- Support onboarding/offboarding activities such as workstation setup and access readiness.
3. Operational Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Establish, review, and enhance standard operating procedures (SOPs) and runbooks.
- Monitor recurring incidents and implement long-term corrective actions.
- Ensure infrastructure operations comply with banking regulations, IT policies, and audit requirements.
- Participate in BCP / DR preparation and testing from a system and OS perspective.
Knowledge & Experience Required:
- Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Minimum 68 years of total IT experience, with at least 45 years in infrastructure/system support roles.
- Solid experience working in banking or other regulated financial environments.
