Position Overview
We are seeking a proactive and delivery-oriented IT Governance Specialist to join our organization and play a crucial role in strengthening our IT governance processes, portfolio visibility and continuous improvement across the IT organization. As an IT Governance Specialist, you will work closely with technology and business stakeholders to develop, implement, and maintain effective IT governance frameworks, processes, and reporting mechanisms. This role must balance governance discipline with operational pragmatism, to ensure controls, processes and reporting will enable the overall effectiveness of our IT operations. The ideal candidate combines strong organizational and analytical capabilities with a creative mindset, continuously seeking opportunities to simplify processes, improve visibility, and enhance business outcomes.
Responsibilities
Governance and Control
- Develop and continuously improve IT governance frameworks, processes, and practices that align with organizational objectives, industry standards, and best practices.
- Establish and maintain IT governance structures, including committees, decision-making processes, portfolio oversight, and reporting mechanisms to ensure clear accountability and ownership.
- Define, oversee and embed governance controls and assessments across IT functions, drive remediation tracking and closure with accountable owners.
- Monitor compliance with relevant regulatory requirements, industry standards, and internal controls through regular audits and assessments.
- Develop and deliver training and awareness initiatives to enhance IT governance adoption and understanding across the organization.
- Stay up to date with emerging trends, technologies, and governance practices and recommend opportunities to improve efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness.
- Act as trusted advisors to technology leadership, championing a governance culture that balances risk management, operational agility and innovation delivery.
Portfolio and Project Governance
- Support and continuously improve portfolio and project governance practices, frameworks, standards, methodologies and operating processes that drive efficiency, transparency and delivery quality.
- Oversee the project intake and demand management, ensuring visibility, strategic alignment, and realization of value from new IT initiatives.
- Act as key partner to leadership, providing portfolio visibility, reporting and insights on project progress, risks, dependencies and resource utilization.
- Support project governance and control process and partner with IT leadership to ensure risks and issues are identified, escalated, and addressed appropriately.
- Contribute to portfolio reporting, governance forums, executive reviews to support effective decision-making and prioritization.
IT Enablement and Optimization
- Serve as key technology partner to cross-functional and cross-regional stakeholders, bridging business needs and technology delivery with a focus on process optimization, automation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support and facilitate governance forums and strategic discussions to drive alignment on priorities, decisions and delivery outcomes.
- Partner with service and operational teams to establish, monitor, and govern key service delivery metrics, providing insight and recommendations to drive continuous improvements across IT operations.
- Support the establishment of IT financial governance and FinOps practices by tracking and reporting variances to improve cost transparency and contributing to annual planning cycles.
Qualifications:
- Diploma/Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience (minimum 3 years) in IT governance, PMO, IT service management, technology operations, transformation or a related field, preferably within a corporate or multinational environment.
- Preferred Certifications:
- ITIL Foundation or higher
- PMP, PRINCE2, or equivalent project management certification
- COBIT Foundation
- Agile or Scrum certification
- Experience with project management tools such as Planisware, Jira, etc will be a strong plus.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and industry standards related to IT governance, such as GDPR, ISO 27001, or NIST.
- Familiarity with IT project management methodologies and practices.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into actionable insights and recommendations.
- Strong communication, facilitation, stakeholder management and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate across all levels of the organization.
- Ability to adapt to an evolving environment and manage multiple priorities and stakeholders simultaneously.
