IoT Support Engineer
The IoT Engineer will be responsible for on-site support, operation, and maintenance of all IoT and RFID devices and related infrastructure deployed at customer facilities, ensuring high uptime and stable performance in 24/7 production environments.
About the Role
We are looking for an IoT Engineer with at least 2 years of hands-on experience to support and maintain IoT and RFID systems at our customer sites. You will work on-site in shift rotations, ensuring high availability of devices, troubleshooting issues, and supporting deployments in mission-critical operations. The ideal candidate has experience with IoT/RFID/industrial devices, basic networking knowledge, and is comfortable working in 24/7 production or logistics environments.
Responsibilities
- Operate, monitor, and maintain IoT and RFID devices, readers, sensors, gateways, and related network equipment on-site.
- Perform first- and second-level troubleshooting of hardware, firmware, and connectivity issues (RFID readers, antennas, sensors, edge gateways, switches, etc.).
- Support deployment, installation, relocation, and configuration of new IoT devices and upgrades according to Intellistride standards and project plans.
- Conduct routine preventive maintenance, health checks, and firmware/software updates for all IoT devices in the scope of responsibility.
- Monitor device dashboards and alerts (e.g. device management platforms, control towers) and respond promptly to incidents to minimize downtime.
- Work closely with remote L2/L3 engineers and project teams to escalate complex issues and execute on-site action plans.
- Document incidents, root causes, corrective actions, and configuration changes in ticketing/maintenance systems.
- Support site acceptance tests, PoCs, and system expansions, including field testing, read-rate validation, and performance tuning.
- Provide basic user support and on-the-floor guidance to customer operations staff on the correct use of IoT-enabled equipment.
- Comply with all safety, security, and cleanroom/warehouse policies of the customer site.
Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in IoT, industrial automation, RFID, networking, field service, or related engineering roles.
- Prior experience in on-site support for production, logistics, or manufacturing environments is preferred.
Required Skills
- Good understanding of IoT concepts: sensors, gateways, connectivity (Ethernet/Wi-Fi), basic IP networking, and device-cloud communication.
- Experience with at least one of: RFID systems, industrial sensors, PLCs, embedded/edge devices, or building management/automation systems.
- Familiarity with Linux/Windows on edge devices and basic scripting or command-line for diagnostics is an advantage.
- Ability to read basic network diagrams and follow standard operating procedures and runbooks.
