Investment Director (Private Markets) - Family Office

Our client is a well-established, Singapore-based Single Family Office with a successful long-term investment track record built primarily across the global public markets. As part of the family's next phase of portfolio evolution and diversification, they are expanding their private markets investment capabilities and are seeking an experienced Investment Director to help drive this strategic initiative.
Reporting directly to the Family Principal, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing the family's private markets investment strategy. This is a rare opportunity to help build a robust private investment platform within an entrepreneurial family office environment, while enjoying significant autonomy and influence over investment decisions.
The investment mandate is global and spans multiple private market asset classes, including direct private equity investments, private equity fund investments, co-investments, venture capital and other alternative investment opportunities.
As the first dedicated private markets investment hire, you will initially operate as an individual contributor with considerable ownership and responsibility. As the platform and investment activity continue to grow, there will be an opportunity to build and lead a small investment team in due course.
Key Responsibilities:
- Help formulate and execute the family's long-term private markets investment strategy.
- Source and originate high-quality investment opportunities globally across private market asset classes.
- Lead end-to-end investment execution, including opportunity screening, financial modelling, valuation, commercial assessment, due diligence, transaction structuring, negotiation and execution.
- Evaluate direct investments, private equity funds, co-investments, venture capital, private credit and other alternative investment opportunities.
- Conduct industry, market and competitive research to support investment recommendations.
- Prepare high-quality investment memoranda and present investment recommendations directly to the Family Principal and Investment Committee.
- Monitor portfolio investments and provide ongoing performance analysis, portfolio reviews and strategic recommendations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with fund managers, founders, investment banks, intermediaries, advisors and co-investment partners globally.
- Represent the family office at industry conferences, networking events and investment meetings.
- Help establish best-in-class investment processes, due diligence frameworks and portfolio monitoring capabilities as the family's private markets platform continues to evolve.
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or a related discipline. An MBA and/or CFA qualification would be advantageous.
- More than 10 years of relevant investment experience within private equity, principal investing, investment banking, growth equity, venture capital or another institutional investment environment.
- Demonstrated track record of leading investment transactions from origination through execution.
- Strong financial modelling, valuation, commercial due diligence and investment analysis capabilities.
- Broad knowledge of private markets investing across multiple asset classes is highly desirable.
- Entrepreneurial, commercially astute and intellectually curious with sound investment judgement.
- Must be an independent self-starter who thrives in a lean, hands-on environment with minimal hierarchy and significant ownership.
- Excellent communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.
- Willingness to travel as required.
