Investment Banking Analyst Role Description

The Investment Banking Analyst plays a foundational role in supporting deal execution, financial analysis, and strategic advisory activities across mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, and corporate finance engagements. This position provides analytical, research, and transactional support to senior bankers and contributes to the development of high-quality deliverables that inform client decisions and facilitate successful outcomes. The Analyst is responsible for conducting detailed financial modeling, preparing valuation analyses, creating presentation materials, and performing in-depth company and industry research.

Key responsibilities include building and maintaining complex financial models to evaluate transaction scenarios, assess company performance, and quantify valuation ranges. The Analyst performs analyses such as discounted cash flow, precedent transactions, comparable companies, and accretion/dilution modeling. In addition, the role involves drafting pitch books, transaction materials, and client presentations that communicate strategic insights, financial outcomes, and potential deal structures. The Analyst supports due diligence processes by reviewing company documents, analyzing financial statements, coordinating data requests, and synthesizing findings for senior team members.

Throughout transactions, the Investment Banking Analyst works closely with internal teams, clients, and external advisors to ensure smooth execution and timely delivery of key milestones. The role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong analytical thinking, and the ability to manage multiple workstreams simultaneously. Effective communication, technical proficiency, and the ability to operate in a high-pressure environment are essential to success. The Analyst plays a critical role in contributing to strategic recommendations, supporting transaction negotiations, and driving high-quality financial insights that support client objectives.

Qualifications

  • Strong financial modeling and valuation skills, including expertise in DCF, comparables, and transaction analysis.
