International Commercial Counsel

About the role:

Sycomp has an immediate opening for a Commercial Counsel in its Singapore based APAC regional office/hybrid model.

This Commercial Counsel will join a small legal team and focus on commercial contracts. As a part of this team, you will be the main point of contact in the APAC region for all contract matters from internal business units, vendors, and third parties and will have the opportunity to work on contracts globally. In the role of Commercial Counsel, you must be able to work and adapt in a fluid, fast-paced high volume environment and have strong technical, communication, collaboration, and leadership skills. The ideal candidate will have 5-7+ years of commercial contract experience in an attorney capacity in the hardware, software or IT services industry. You will gain valuable experience with a recognized global tech leader working on international commercial contracts with Fortune 100 companies as clients/customers/partners. Responsibilities will include:

• Structure, review and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements including NDAs, MSAs, vendor contracts, reseller agreements, licensing agreements, and other agreements involving a variety of complex and evolving issues
• Manage risk and ensure business and compliance needs are accurately reflected in agreement(s).
• Will also have the opportunity to do privacy and compliance work as well
• Respond promptly to the demands of an active sales and international logistics team
• Act as the point of contact for all internal business unit questions with regard to contracts
• Ad hoc corporate legal projects as assigned

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate or equivalent from an accredited major law school and licensed to practice in the United States or UK
• 5-7+ years (QPE 5-7 years) of commercial contract experience in an attorney capacity with some in house commercial licensing experience preferred
• Mandarin language required/(highly desired)
• Demeanor to thrive in a fast-paced sales focused environment, requiring exceptional organizational skills, juggling priorities, and adhering to strict deadlines
• Must have commercial experience in the hardware, software, VAR or similar industry
• Experience with contract management software solutions is a plus
• Strong attention to detail
• Significant experience relating to tax, import/export, privacy, security, HIPAA, GDPR, and/or intellectual property rights etc. is a plus
• International licensing/commercial contracts experience is a plus
• Excellent verbal, written, and social communication skills
• Has intellectual curiosity and a desire for continuous learning
• Able to deal with ambiguity and develop creative and pragmatic solutions for complex and evolving issues in a rapidly changing environment
• Demonstrates consistently good judgment and impeccable integrity

This is a hands-on role in which you will interact daily with customers, vendors, partners, senior executives and other internal clients across multiple organizations including Sales, Finance, and Logistics.
