Key Roles and Responsibilities
This role involves researching, identifying, and developing innovative solutions to reduce the carbon footprint of urban development projects. The candidate will collaborate with the team to generate ideas for low-carbon features, services, and business models, while supporting the positioning and branding of Low Carbon Industrial Parks (IP). In addition, the intern will support the implementation of Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) certification frameworks, helping to translate sustainability strategies into practical, measurable actions across projects in Southeast Asia, with a focus on Vietnam and Indonesia.
- Exploring Green & Low-Carbon Solutions
- Conduct research on sustainability trends, low-carbon technologies, and market benchmarks for industrial parks.
- Identify and evaluate solutions across key themes (e.g., energy, water, materials, mobility, waste, digitalization).
- Support integration of low-carbon solutions into urban and industrial park developments.
- Low-Carbon IP Branding & Positioning
- Support the development of a coherent Low-Carbon IP value proposition for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to branding materials, including decks, factsheets, and concept notes for business development and partnerships.
- Benchmark leading global low-carbon or sustainable industrial parks and derive key differentiators.
- Assist in defining key metrics and narratives (e.g., emissions reduction, resource efficiency, circularity) for marketing and reporting.
- Eco-Industrial Park (EIP) Certification Support
- Support adoption and execution of EIP certification frameworks (e.g., IFC EIP framework).
- Assist in mapping existing assets and development plans against EIP criteria and indicators.
- Coordinate data collection for key metrics (energy, carbon, water, waste, social indicators).
- Support gap analysis and action planning to meet certification requirements.
- Assist in preparing documentation and presentation materials for certification or pilot submissions.
- Develop Innovative Low-Carbon Concepts
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business development, design, asset management) to develop low-carbon features and services.
- Explore business models such as renewable energy solutions, utilities optimisation, and circular economy initiatives.
- Pilot & Validate Concepts
- Support feasibility studies and pilot initiatives for selected low-carbon solutions.
- Assist in quantifying environmental and commercial impact (e.g., emissions reduction, cost savings, ROI).
- Gather feedback and refine proposals for scaled deployment.
- Craft Compelling Pitches
- Assist the Head, Sustainable Assets in preparing presentations, reports, and business cases.
- Translate technical sustainability concepts into clear, compelling narratives for senior management, partners, and clients.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
- Background in Engineering, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Sustainability, Business or equivalent
- Strong understanding of sustainability concepts, low-carbon developments, and industrial park infrastructure
- Familiarity or interest in frameworks such as Eco-Industrial Park (EIP), LEED, EDGE, or similar standards is advantageous
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with business acumen
- Ability to synthesize technical data into clear insights and visuals
- Strong presentation and storytelling skills (PowerPoint proficiency preferred)
- Passionate about sustainability and climate action
