Job Description

We are a revolutionary plastic technology company on a mission to create the most innovative and advanced recycled materials for the eyewear and fashion industry.

Powered by our materials, our goal is to create net-zero products that clean and decarbonize our planet using science, nanotechnology, and AI.

We retrieve plastic waste from rivers and mangrove forests in Indonesia, combine it with post-consumer plastic waste and captured CO2 from discarded coconut shells, using ECOFUSION, our proprietary technology, and re-engineer it into sustainable nanocomposites that match the mechanical properties of existing virgin materials, at a lower cost.

We began our journey in 2019 as a D2C brand under PANGEA Movement with a focus on sustainable outdoor gear and funding cleanup operations. We've since expanded into the B2B sector with Regenesis, a new materials vertical. This expansion allows us to extend our circular regenerative model to an industrial scale, to serve other companies.

We launched Regenesis at Mido, Milan in February 2025. We gained immense interest from major brands in the industry, signing more than 70 LOIs in one week with all the largest companies, including Safilo, Marchon, Inspecs, Luxottica, and others, who confirmed they want to adopt our materials.

Regenesis is a sustainable materials innovation company redesigning polymers, systems, and products to empower the fashion industry's transition to a net-zero circular economy that cleans our planet, instead of polluting it - starting with eyewear. As a spinoff from Pangea, Regenesis leverages cutting-edge plastic science, nanotechnology, and Al to create advanced recycled materials made with ocean-bound plastic waste and captured CO2 from discarded coconut shells, using ECOFUSION, our proprietary technology.

Our vision is to accelerate the transition to a regenerative circular economy that cleans the planet and to create the most sustainable supply chain for the fashion and outdoor industries worldwide. By using our materials, any brand will become planet-positive and truly sustainable without greenwashing.

About the Role:

We are seeking motivated interns with a background or interest in material science, chemical engineering, polymer science, or plastics engineering to join our R&D team. You will start working at our newly established R&D Lab at NUS, Singapore.

The internship focuses on developing and testing polypropylene (PP) composites for eyewear applications, aiming to enhance mechanical properties and aesthetic appeal.

Duties:

  1. Material Preparation: Assist in preparing plastic samples and compounding different formulations using twin-screw extrusion and injection molding processes.
  2. Testing and Analysis: Conduct mechanical tests (e.g., tensile, flexural, and impact testing) using equipment like the Universal Testing Machine (UTM), hardness testers, and impact testers. Analyze the results to assess the performance of composite formulations.
  3. Microscopy: Prepare and analyze samples using a compound microscope to study filler dispersion, fiber orientation, and surface defects.
  4. Data Collection & Reporting: Collect, record, and analyze experimental data. Assist in preparing technical reports, graphs, and presentations to communicate findings to the team.
  5. Research & Development: Research innovative additives and filler materials (e.g., biochar, mica, carbon fiber) that can improve the mechanical properties, density, and gloss of PP composites. Experiment with different formulations and process parameters.
  6. Collaboration: Work with our R&D team to refine the extrusion and molding process, troubleshoot issues, and optimize composite properties to meet project goals.
  7. Safety and Maintenance: Follow lab safety protocols, handle chemicals, operate machinery, and maintain a clean and organized lab environment.

Qualifications:

● Current enrollment or recent completion of a Bachelor's or Master's program in Material Science, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Plastics Engineering, or a related field.

● Basic understanding of polymer processing, material properties, and mechanical testing methods.

● Experience with laboratory equipment and processes is a plus (e.g., extrusion, injection molding, microscopy, tensile testing).

● Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect and interpret data accurately.

● Attention to detail and the ability to follow instructions carefully.

● Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.

● Eagerness to learn and a passion for sustainable materials and innovative solutions.

What You'll Gain:

● Hands-on experience with advanced polymer processing techniques and composite material testing.

● Exposure to the full R&D process, from formulation to testing and evaluation of sustainable plastic composites.

● The opportunity to work in a cutting-edge R&D environment at our Singapore lab and other premise.

● Mentorship from experienced materials scientists and engineers.

● The chance to be part of an innovative company focused on creating eco-friendly products.

Location: NUS, Singapore
