Job Description

What The Role Is

Want to use behavioural science to solve real-world public service challenges

We are looking for a curious, analytical and purpose-driven Behavioural Insights Intern to join the Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore (IRAS).

In this role, you will apply behavioural science to tax administration — uncovering why people behave the way they do through research, and testing what works through randomised controlled trials (RCTs) and A/B testing.

What You Will Be Working On

You will contribute to 1 to 2 behavioural science and/or design projects that aim to make tax compliance intuitive and taxpayer-centric.

  • Design and run trials: Support A/B tests and randomised controlled trials (RCTs) to find out what truly works.
  • Conduct user research: Support surveys, interviews and Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) to understand taxpayers needs, behaviours and pain points.
  • Analyse evidence: Clean datasets, run statistical analyses and evaluate trial results to measure the impact of behavioural interventions.
  • Turn insights into action: Combine qualitative stories with quantitative data to develop practical recommendations for better service delivery.

You will be mentored by a supervisor, work closely with project leads, and receive real-time feedback as you build hands-on experience in applying behavioural insights within a public service context.

What We Are Looking For

  • Students in Psychology, Economics, Statistics or related fields
  • Strong foundation in experimental design and results analysis, including randomised controlled trials and/or A/B testing
  • Experience or interest in quantitative and/or qualitative research
  • Strong presentation, writing and verbal communication skills
  • Good self-management skills, with the ability to work independently and meet project deadlines

Internship Duration: 6 to 12 months, with intake from August 2026 onwards.
