Job Summary
We seek a creative and technically skilled Interior Designer / Drafter to translate design concepts into construction drawings, support project planning, material selection, and coordinate with project teams to ensure successful project execution.
Responsibilities
- Develop space planning layouts and furniture arrangements to optimize functional and aesthetic use of space
- Prepare mood boards, material boards, and design presentations to communicate design concepts effectively
- Recommend suitable colours, materials, lighting, and finishes aligned with project requirements and client needs
- Ensure designs comply with HDB, BCA, and project-specific regulations and standards
- Produce detailed 2D technical drawings using AutoCAD, including layout, demolition, masonry, reflected ceiling, electrical, plumbing, and carpentry plans
- Prepare detailed shop drawings for production and site installation to support accurate fabrication
- Coordinate drawing revisions throughout project phases to maintain up-to-date documentation
- Collaborate with project managers, site supervisors, carpenters, electricians, plumbers, and suppliers to ensure design and construction alignment
- Conduct site measurements and inspections to verify dimensions and resolve technical issues during construction
- Prepare material schedules and source suitable materials and finishes ensuring compatibility with fabrication and installation requirements
- Liaise with suppliers regarding material specifications and samples to support procurement decisions
- Maintain drawing records and revision history to ensure traceability and project documentation integrity
- Prepare quotations and design presentations as required to support project proposals and client communications
- Produce as-built drawings after project completion to document final conditions
Required competencies and certifications
- Diploma or Degree in Interior Design, Architecture, Spatial Design, or related field
- Proficient in AutoCAD for preparing detailed technical drawings
- Good understanding of HDB renovation guidelines to ensure regulatory compliance
- Knowledge of carpentry construction and renovation detailing to support accurate design and drafting
- Strong communication skills to coordinate effectively with project teams and suppliers
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve technical issues during project execution
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
Preferred competencies and qualifications
- Proficiency in SketchUp to enhance design visualization
- Skills in Adobe Photoshop and Microsoft Office for design presentation and documentation
- Knowledge of construction detailing to improve technical accuracy
- Experience with material specification to support procurement and design decisions
- Expertise in space planning to optimize functional layouts
- Technical coordination skills to facilitate smooth project delivery
