Key responsibilities include:
Plan, design, and implement the Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M) system in accordance with project specifications and engineering requirements.
Prepare and review instrumentation layouts, monitoring plans, method statements, and installation procedures.
Coordinate the installation, calibration, and maintenance of monitoring instruments such as settlement markers, inclinometers, piezometers, strain gauges, and vibration monitoring devices.
Monitor and analyse instrumentation data to assess ground movement, structural response, and construction impact.
Establish monitoring trigger levels and implement alert procedures where abnormal readings are detected.
Provide timely interpretation of monitoring results and recommend mitigation measures when necessary.
Prepare regular instrumentation monitoring reports and present findings to the project management team and Superintending Officer (S.O.).
Coordinate with geotechnical engineers, design consultants, and construction teams to ensure monitoring results are properly integrated into construction planning.
Ensure instrumentation works comply with project specifications, design requirements, and safety standards.
Maintain accurate records of instrumentation installation, monitoring data, calibration reports, and system maintenance.
Degree in Civil Engineering or Geotechnical Engineering recognised by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB), or qualification in a relevant field subject to the acceptance of the Superintending Officer (S.O.).
Preferably minimum 8 years of engineering experience in civil or geotechnical engineering.
At least 5 years of experience as an Instrumentation and Monitoring Engineer in geotechnical and building construction projects of similar scale, nature, and complexity.
Strong knowledge of instrumentation systems and monitoring techniques used in construction and geotechnical works.
Experience in interpreting monitoring data and implementing trigger level response plans.
Familiarity with ground monitoring instruments such as inclinometers, piezometers, settlement markers, crack gauges, and vibration monitors.
Good analytical, reporting, and technical coordination skills.
Ability to work closely with engineers, consultants, and site teams to manage instrumentation and monitoring activities effectively.
