We are seeking a Inspector to support the SCDF Product Listing Scheme (PLS) certification activities for Scheme 5 and Scheme 2 products. The role involves conducting factory and product inspections, surveillance activities, technical assessments, and ensuring continued compliance with applicable standards and SCDF requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct initial, periodic and surveillance inspections of manufacturing facilities under SCDF PLS Scheme.
- Assess manufacturing processes, production controls, quality systems and product conformity against applicable standards and SCDF requirements.
- Review technical documents including test reports, product specifications, drawings and quality records when conducting factory and site inspections.
- Conduct product sampling and coordinate samples for testing where required.
- Identify and document non-conformities, evaluate corrective actions and follow up on their closure.
- Prepare clear, accurate and timely inspection reports and supporting records.
- Monitor surveillance schedules and ensure inspections are completed within the required certification cycle.
- Liaise with manufacturers, suppliers and internal teams on inspection requirements and technical findings.
- Support continuous improvement and digitalisation of the PLS inspection process.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Building & Construction, Fire Safety, Materials Science or a related discipline.
- Relevant experience in inspection, testing, certification, quality assurance or conformity assessment.
- Experience with SCDF PLS Scheme 2 and/or Scheme 5 is highly preferred.
- Good understanding of technical standards, manufacturing processes and product conformity assessment.
- Able to interpret technical drawings, specifications and test reports.
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and sound technical judgement.
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple assignments effectively.
- Willing to travel locally and overseas for factory inspections.
