In this role, you will serve as a Infrastructure Technical Lead within an international, multidisciplinary engineering team. You will guide the day-to-day design, delivery, and ongoing support of robust server and storage infrastructure for complex enterprise systems.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Lead & Guidance
- Technical Guidance: Lead the infrastructure team in designing and implementing server and storage environments, providing hands-on technical direction for modernizing systems.
- Modernization & Automation: Support line management in updating infrastructure practices, focusing on server virtualization, storage platforms, and operational automation.
- Emerging Tech Adoption: Identify and introduce practical modern technologies into the setup—such as hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI), containerization, automated monitoring, and hybrid cloud tools.
Standards, Governance & Documentation
- Best Practices & Standards: Help establish and enforce practical engineering standards for compute systems, storage setups, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and automation workflows.
- Team Coordination: Assist management with routine team coordination and technical standards across compute and storage operations.
- Knowledge Sharing: Curate and maintain technical documentation, reference guides, lessons learned, and team technical repositories.
Technical Bidding, Costing & Delivery
- Bid & Design Reviews: Review technical architectures and provide input on cost estimates for infrastructure-focused proposals, bids, and client projects.
- Cost Estimation: Help maintain and update cost models (covering server, storage, and platform TCO) for project estimations.
- Process Efficiency: Support automation and standardization efforts to save time, reduce costs, and improve delivery quality.
- Agile & Lean Practice: Apply Lean and Agile principles to team workflows, platform rollouts, and automation pipelines.
Team Support, Mentorship & Hiring
- Mentorship & Coaching: Provide technical coaching and guidance to team members, supporting their skill development and growth.
- Resource Assessment: Help evaluate required skillsets for upcoming project tasks and support workload planning.
- Recruitment Support: Assist with recruitment by defining technical skill needs, interviewing candidates, and onboarding new technical talent.
- Team Culture: Encourage a collaborative, supportive, and continuous learning mindset within the team.
Cross-Functional Coordination & Reporting
- Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Partner with network, cybersecurity, and systems engineering teams to deliver well-rounded, reliable technical solutions.
- Status & Risk Reporting: Provide regular, clear updates on technical progress, testing risks, project status, and potential blockers to management.
Required Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering, ICT, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Postgraduate studies in Systems Engineering (desirable).
Technical Experience
- Core Infrastructure Experience: 7+ years of hands-on experience designing, deploying, and maintaining enterprise server and storage infrastructure (including virtualization, storage arrays, backup/recovery, and basic networking).
- OS & Virtualization: Strong technical background in server operating systems (Linux/RHEL, Windows Server), system hardening, hypervisors (VMware, Hyper-V, Proxmox, KVM), and container engines (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
- Storage & Data Center: Solid understanding of enterprise SAN/NAS storage, compute architectures, data center installations, and hardware lifecycle management.
- Automation & Scripting: Practical experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Ansible, Terraform), CI/CD pipelines, and scripting languages for operations.
- Networking Fundamentals: Practical understanding of baseline networking principles, including switching and routing basics.
- Project Lifecycles: Familiarity working within both traditional (Waterfall) and Agile/iterative project delivery environments.
- Data Center Guidelines: Understanding of data center security, basic safety standards, and human factors.
Lead & Interpersonal Capabilities
- Technical Mentorship: Demonstrated experience mentoring, guiding, or leading junior-to-mid level engineers in a collaborative setting.
- Costing & Risk Awareness: Practical capability to estimate technical costs (TCO) and spot project/testing risks early.
- Communication: Clear verbal and written communication skills to provide technical updates to management and collaborate across global, multicultural teams.
- Practical Problem Solving: Solid judgment, strong personal accountability, and a positive, constructive approach to handling technical complexity.
