About the Role:
Are you an infrastructure engineer with a passion for virtualization, automation, and cloud platforms As an Infrastructure Engineer on CrowdStrike's TechOps CICD team, you'll take ownership of IaaS platforms and virtualization environments that power our software factory. You'll lead Infrastructure as Code initiatives, drive configuration management practices, and build automation workflows that keep our developer environments running at scale - with a deep focus on KVM-based on-premises infrastructure and cloud operations.
What you'll do:
Deploy and operate virtualized infrastructure using QEMU/KVM, VMware vCenter, OpenStack, and public cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP)
Lead IaC automation efforts using Terraform, Packer, and Ansible
Drive and own workstreams within the team's migration from VMware to a KVM-based private cloud model
Design and implement automation and tooling to improve infrastructure reliability and developer experience
Ensure proper monitoring, maintenance, and resilience of R&D environments
Perform root-cause analysis on incidents and drive resolution
Participate in the team on-call rotation
Document processes and procedures perform code reviews for IaC and scripts
What You'll Need:
5+ years of experience in an infrastructure, DevOps, or cloud engineering role
Must be able to participate in an on-call rotation
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work effectively across a distributed, cross-functional team
Meticulous attention to detail and sound decision-making in a fast-paced environment
Security mindset with a general understanding of cybersecurity principles.
Expertise with hypervisor platforms - QEMU/KVM strongly preferred for on-premises workloads VMware or Xen experience also applicable
Proficiency in Python for scripting, automation, and tooling
Expertise with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform and Ansible
Expertise working in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP
Experience with IaaS platforms such as VMware, OpenStack, or similar
Experience with operating system lifecycle management
Experience with enterprise operating systems (Linux, Windows, MacOS) at scale
Understanding of CI/CD patterns and processes
Experience with git-based source code repositories (Bitbucket, GitLab)
Proven experience utilizing AI technologies to enhance decision-making, streamline workflows and processes, improve efficiency and drive business outcomes.
Bonus Points:
Experience with OpenNebula or similar private cloud platforms
Experience with on-premises Kubernetes platforms (Rancher, k3s, or similar)
Experience with FOSS storage solutions (MinIO, Ceph, or similar)
Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or GitLab CI at scale
Experience with Dell PowerFlex, TrueNAS, or similar storage platforms
