About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Infrastructure Architect to design and govern the cloud infrastructure foundation for a large-scale AWS-based data, analytics, and AI platform. You will be responsible for defining the target-state infrastructure architecture across networking, security, compute, storage, and operational services to support scalable, secure, and highly available solutions.
This role is ideal for someone with deep expertise in Amazon Web Services architecture, cloud security, and infrastructure automation, with experience designing enterprise-grade platforms for analytics and AI workloads.
Key Responsibilities
- Design the end-to-end AWS infrastructure architecture supporting data engineering, analytics, and AI/GenAI workloads.
- Define landing zone architecture, including multi-account structures, network segmentation, and governance controls.
- Architect secure and scalable environments using services such as:
- Amazon VPC
- AWS IAM
- Amazon EC2
- Amazon EKS
- AWS Lambda
- Amazon S3
- Amazon CloudWatch
- AWS KMS
- Define security architecture covering encryption, secrets management, IAM policies, and network controls.
- Establish disaster recovery, backup, and high-availability strategies.
- Collaborate with Data Architects, AI Architects, and DevOps Engineers to ensure infrastructure supports platform requirements.
- Define infrastructure standards, guardrails, and reusable patterns for engineering teams.
- Review architecture and implementation artefacts to ensure alignment with security and operational requirements.
- Produce architecture diagrams and technical documentation.
- Provide technical leadership and governance throughout delivery.
Required Skills & Experience
- 8+ years of experience in infrastructure architecture, cloud architecture, or platform engineering roles.
- Proven experience designing enterprise-scale solutions on AWS.
- Strong knowledge of:
- AWS networking (VPC, subnets, routing, security groups, transit gateways)
- IAM and access control
- Encryption and key management
- High availability and disaster recovery
- Monitoring and observability
- Experience with container and serverless platforms such as EKS and Lambda.
- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevSecOps practices.
- Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in healthcare, public sector, or other regulated environments.
- Familiarity with GCC (AWS-based Government Commercial Cloud) or similar secure cloud environments.
- AWS certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional or AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty.
- Experience supporting data and AI platforms using Redshift, SageMaker, and Bedrock.
