VMware Infrastructure Engineer
Must-Have Skills
- Strong hands-on experience in building, configuring, and maintaining physical servers in enterprise environments.
- Proven experience in installing, configuring, and administering VMware vSphere/ESXi environments.
- Expertise in VMware vCenter Server deployment, management, and troubleshooting.
- Experience in VM provisioning, migration (vMotion), cloning, templates, and resource management.
- Strong knowledge of server hardware, storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.
- Experience in performance monitoring, capacity planning, patching, upgrades, and system health checks.
- Hands-on experience in VMware infrastructure support, troubleshooting, and incident resolution.
Good-to-Have Skills
- Experience with VMware Horizon, NSX, or vSAN.
- Knowledge of Windows Server and Linux administration.
- Experience with Backup & Disaster Recovery solutions.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms such as Azure or AWS.
- VMware certifications (VCP, VCAP, or equivalent).
- Scripting experience using PowerShell, PowerCLI, or Shell scripting.
- Experience working in ITIL-based support environments.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Build, install, configure, and maintain physical server infrastructure.
- Install, configure, administer, and support VMware ESXi hosts and vCenter Server environments.
- Create, manage, and optimize virtual machines across VMware platforms.
- Perform VMware infrastructure upgrades, patching, and lifecycle management activities.
- Monitor system performance, storage utilization, and resource allocation to ensure optimal availability.
- Troubleshoot hardware, virtualization, storage, and networking issues.
- Manage VM migrations, backups, disaster recovery, and business continuity activities.
- Work closely with infrastructure, network, security, and application teams to support business requirements.
- Perform capacity planning and provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements.
- Maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and configuration standards.
- Ensure VMware environments meet security, compliance, and operational standards.
- Provide L2/L3 support for server and virtualization-related incidents and service requests
