At Singapore Airlines Digital Innovation Lab (KrisLab), we drive impactful digital innovation by experimenting with new digital solutions in collaboration with our employees across Singapore Airlines (SIA) Group, Business Units (BUs), IT teams, startups/scaleups, research partners. Our mission is to drive the growth of digital innovation culture and create competitive advantages by solving business problems and leveraging new and emerging technologies. We are seeking a dynamic and creative Digital Innovation Technologist who has the passion and drive to contribute across the following three key domains and any other roles/responsibilities as assigned by the department manager from time to time:

1. SIA Digital Innovation Programs and Initiatives

2. Research & Development (R&D)

3. Innovation Partnerships

This is a high-ownership role that blends strategic and out-of-the-box thinking, outcome-driven execution and cross-functional collaboration, relationship building and stakeholder management. You will work on initiatives from idea to validation and partner with internal teams and/or external collaborators to unlock new capabilities and bring impactful and meaningful values for Singapore Airlines Group.

Key Responsibilities

1. Digital Innovation Programs and Initiatives

  • Collaborate with BUs and IT teams to identify new opportunities for experimentations through formal planning and ad hoc engagements, leading to impactful business results.
  • Scope and lead innovation projects, including rapid prototyping, Proof-of-Concepts (POCs), pilots and working with stakeholders to support implementation
  • Work with internal stakeholders and/or external technology and innovative solution providers to test, validate, assess outcomes, drive the process to make timely decisions on these experimentation opportunities towards implementation when real benefits could be reaped
  • Support transition of successful pilots into implementation

2. Research and Development

  • Drive the efforts to raise the awareness of the general staff population, management and executives on the latest developments in technologies and industry use cases
  • Support the end-to-end management of R&D collaborations with universities (e.g. NUS) and research institutions (e.g. A.STAR), as well as other potential R&D partners and collaborators. This includes :

i. Align project goals and scope with BUs needs and research partners capabilities

ii. Manage stakeholders, track milestones, manage budgets and handle project reporting

iii. Structure and drive long-term R&D initiatives to support strategic innovation ambitions

3. Innovation Partnerships

  • Build and manage relationships across the open innovation ecosystem, including startups, scaleups, venture capitals, trade and government agencies, trade associations, tech companies etc. globally
  • Scout and evaluate external solutions best fit to address SIA's business challenges
  • Support innovative solution sourcing for the SIA Accelerator programme and other co-innovation efforts

Requirements

  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in innovation, project development, R&D project management, startup/tech engagement and exploring the use cases for new technologies in the enterprise context
  • Strong stakeholder management, relationship building, EQ, communication, story-telling and negotiation skills
  • Possesses strong AQ and demonstrated tenacity in the pursuit of innovation opportunities and solutions, the drive to make things happen and managing uncertainties and change
  • Comfortable working with ambiguity and driving clarity through structured and strategic thinking
  • Demonstrated ability in managing cross-functional or external-facing projects across levels
  • Background in science, engineering, business or tech preferred
  • Preference for candidates who have the following experiences, mindset and habits

1. Exposure to startup ecosystems, accelerators or open innovation platforms

2. Familiarity with agile experimentation, design thinking or lean startup methodology

3. Being AI (artificial intelligence) native -use AI / Generative AI / Agentic AI from planning to execution of roles, processes and projects
