- Prepare cost estimates, Bills of Quantities (BOQ) and tender documentation.
- Review project drawings, specifications and contract requirements to perform quantity take-offs.Identify and clarify discrepancies between BOQs, drawings, specifications and contract conditions.
- Obtain and negotiate quotations with suppliers and subcontractors to achieve competitive pricing and terms.
- Prepare techno-commercial proposals and support tender submissions.
- Monitor project budgets, costs, forecasts and margins throughout the project lifecycle.
- Prepare interim and final valuations, variations and claims.
- Coordinate with clients, architects, sales, design and project teams on tender and costing requirements.
- Participate in pre-tender activities, including reviewing tender documents and raising relevant queries.Conduct feasibility studies and value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide input on procurement, cost control and project risk management.
- Maintain accurate records of project costs, valuations, claims and other commercial documentation.
- Ensure project costs are managed effectively and deliver value for money.
Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Building, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Relevant experience in quantity surveying, contracts management, project costing or commercial management within the construction industry.
- Knowledge of construction practices, regulations, standards and contract administration.
- Strong understanding of cost estimation, budgeting and cost management.
- Familiarity with construction contracts and commercial terms.
- Understanding of general contracting, design & build, package contracting, commercial fit-out, hotel and retail projects.
- Experience using AutoCAD to review drawings and validate quantities.
- Experience with quantity take-off and cost estimation from project drawings and specifications.
- Knowledge of BIM and quantity take-off software will be an advantage.
- Understanding of health, safety and environmental requirements.
