Wood is currently recruiting for an I&C Engineer to support our growing operations in Singapore. You will be responsible for the execution of project work in accordance with company procedures within the man-hour and cost budgets.

The Role

The I&C Engineer is accountable for the successful delivery of capital projects, ensuring zero safety or quality incidents, and completion within approved timelines and budgets. This role supports strategic site objectives by ensuring projects meet engineering, safety, and regulatory standards, and align with operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out instrumentation and control system studies (e.g. control philosophies, instrument sizing, loop analysis).
  • Prepare I&C job specifications, instrument datasheets, control narratives, and loop diagrams under guidance of the Senior/Principal/Chief I&C Engineer.
  • Execute assigned work in accordance with applicable contract requirements, project procedures, international codes, standards, and Client specifications.
  • Perform activities such as preparation and issue of material requisitions, instrument indexes, and technical bid evaluations in accordance with approved Technical Practices.
  • Review Vendor drawings, calculations, software documentation, and data sheets for instruments, control systems, and packages as per project requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with confidentiality and intellectual property obligations related to Client- or Third-Party–licensed technologies and control systems.
  • Maintain project documentation and engineering deliverables in accordance with established Quality Management Procedures.
  • Liaise with interdisciplinary groups (Process, Electrical, Mechanical, Packages, EPC partners, Vendors, and Construction) as required for effective project execution.
  • Ensure timely and accurate production of I&C deliverables in line with project schedules and milestones.
  • Ensure proper technical and administrative close-out of all project-related I&C engineering activities.
  • Keep the Lead I&C Engineer informed of:
    • Any major issues related to design, schedule, resources, or Vendor performance, including causes and proposed corrective actions.
    • Any unresolved technical interfaces or discrepancies with other engineering disciplines.
    • Any Client-requested changes that may impact scope, cost, or schedule and potentially constitute a contract variation.
  • Deliver high-quality engineering work within approved man-hour budgets and schedule targets.
  • Capture and update lessons learned relevant to I&C engineering periodically in the project database.
  • Support the Lead Engineer by providing key I&C quantities and engineering inputs at various stages of the project (e.g. proposals, FEED, detailed engineering).
  • Participate in field engineering, site support, commissioning, and troubleshooting activities as required by the project.
  • Proactively suggest and evaluate new software tools, standards, recommended practices, and technical literature relevant to I&C engineering.
  • Assist, when required, in the preparation of technical proposals, presentations, and clarifications for prospective or existing Clients.
  • If possessing advanced expertise in PC-based I&C software tools (e.g. instrument sizing, control system configuration, or engineering databases), support knowledge transfer and conduct training for other engineers in coordination with the Section Head.
Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent, with minimum 8 years of experience in Refinery, Petrochemical, Chemical, Power, LNG, or Pharmaceutical plant projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Instrumentation and Control systems, including field instrumentation, control valves, analyzers, PLC/DCS/SCADA systems, and familiarity with local and international codes and standards (ISA, IEC, IEEE, API, ISO, etc.).
  • Proficient in the use of industry-accepted I&C engineering software for instrument sizing, control system engineering, and documentation.
  • Hands-on experience with instrument sizing and calculation tools (e.g. control valve sizing, flow measurement, safety valve/interface data) and engineering deliverables such as instrument datasheets, loop diagrams, and instrument indexes is required.
  • Experience in integration and coordination with PLC/DCS vendors and package vendors is desirable.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and self-reliant, with strong ownership of engineering deliverables and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Energetic team player with good communication skills and the ability to take initiative to resolve technical and coordination issues.
