Role Overview

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Scientist to join Bosch's Research and Development team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the advancement of HVAC technologies and sustainable building solutions. As a Research Scientist, you will collaborate with internal teams and external partners to develop cutting-edge technologies and commercialize innovative solutions.

What you will do (Key Responsibilities)

  • Monitor the latest technology development and generate innovations to support business growth in the domains of Sustainable Building & HVAC solutions.
  • Co-create with internal business units to identify business needs and research requirements, contributing to the long-term product portfolio of Bosch. Conduct customer interviews, formulate problem statements, and generate innovation pitching and research proposals.
  • Build cooperation, assess opportunities, and identify Best-In-Class entities within Singapore ecosystems (e.g., local institutions and universities) for potential research / innovation collaboration, fostering outside-in innovation.
  • Maintain regular alignment with internal customers, Strategic Research Portfolio Owners (Sustainability, Internet of Things), providing periodical project updatesand idea pitching via the Bosch Innovation Framework.
  • Drive advanced research in HVAC technology for residential and commercial buildings, addressing academic and industrial challenges.
  • Consistently generate invention reports and patents resulting from innovation, working closely with internal business units for commercialization.

Qualifications

What We're Looking For (Qualifications & Skills)

Must-Haves:

  • PhD in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical & Electronics, Electrical & Control, or Process Engineering), with a focus on or strong interest in HVAC systems.
  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience in R&D engineering or academic research involving thermal system modeling, simulations, heat and mass transfer analysis, cycle and system control, relevant software tools, data analytics, or machine learning applications.
  • Demonstrated expertise in evaluating and benchmarking thermal systems, energy management solutions, and building technologies, with a solid understanding of emerging cycles, digitalization trends, and innovative re-engineering approaches.
  • Strong awareness of current advancements in HVAC, heat pump, energy, building, and sustainability sectors, with the proven ability to translate research concepts into functional prototypes and effectively communicate findings to stakeholders.

Good to have:

  • Track record of successfully managing 2 or more research projects from conception through completion in an R&D setting.
  • Background in entrepreneurial ventures, start-up environments, or collaborative product and concept development initiatives.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for continuous learning and skill development in emerging research areas such as AI/ML, deep learning, IoT technologies, and sensor systems.
  • Demonstrated passion for innovation, entrepreneurial mindset, and excellent communication abilities in both written and verbal formats.
  • Ability to thrive both independently and collaboratively within teams, with a positive work ethic and adaptability to evolving project demands.
  • Proficiency in Japanese language is a valuable addition to your profile.
