Human Resources Director

The Human Resources Director role sits at a strategic leadership level within a well-established global manufacturing organisation and leads the entire Human Resources (HR) function for an onsite plant in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The position will drive and align HR initiatives within the Malaysia business in support of global and regional objectives while serving as a trusted advisor to senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with global direction and local business needs

• Act as a trusted advisor to senior leadership on all HR-related matters

• Lead and develop the local HR team, ensuring capability and performance

• Drive talent management, succession planning, and organisational development initiatives

• Support and execute change management and transformation programmes

• Ensure alignment with regional HR frameworks, processes, and standards

• Oversee recruitment strategy, employee engagement, and HR performance tracking

• Ensure compliance with local labour laws and corporate policies

Requirements

• Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related discipline

• Minimum 10 years of HR experience, including experience in a regional or international environment

• Proven experience working within a matrix organisational structure

• Strong capabilities in:

• HR strategy and execution

• Talent management and succession planning

• Organisational development and change management

• Solid knowledge of local labour laws and regulatory compliance

• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders

• High level of intercultural awareness, with experience working across diverse environments

• Fluency in English proficiency in additional languages will be an advantage
