Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP)

Location: Singapore

Job Summary

The Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) serves as a strategic partner to the maritime business units by aligning human resource initiatives with business objectives. The HRBP works closely with management and operational teams to support manpower planning, talent acquisition, employee engagement, and HR compliance within the maritime and marine engineering environment.

This role requires a strong understanding of the maritime industry, including technical workforce management, overseas project deployment, and compliance with Singapore employment regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic HR Partnership

Partner with business leaders to develop and implement HR strategies aligned with company objectives.

Support organizational development initiatives and workforce planning within maritime operations.

Provide HR advisory support to managers on workforce issues and talent management.

2. Talent Acquisition and Workforce Planning

Manage recruitment for key maritime technical positions such as Marine Engineers, Service Engineers, Technicians, and Project Engineers.

Develop manpower planning strategies to support vessel maintenance projects and marine engineering operations.

Build and maintain a pipeline of qualified maritime professionals.

3. Employee Relations and Engagement

Provide guidance to managers and employees on HR policies and employment matters.

Handle employee relations issues and promote a positive workplace culture.

Support employee engagement initiatives and internal communication programs.

4. Performance Management

Support the implementation of performance management systems aligned with operational goals.

Assist department heads in setting KPIs and performance evaluation frameworks for technical teams.

Monitor performance review processes and recommend improvement strategies.

5. Learning and Development

Identify training needs for maritime technical staff and management teams.

Coordinate technical training, safety training, and leadership development programs.

Support employee career development and succession planning initiatives.

6. Compliance and Employment Regulations

Ensure HR practices comply with Singapore employment laws and MOM regulations.

Manage foreign workforce matters including Work Pass applications (WP, S Pass, EP).

Maintain compliance with industry safety standards and corporate policies.

7. HR Analytics and Reporting

Analyze HR metrics such as turnover rates, recruitment effectiveness, and workforce productivity.

Prepare HR reports and provide insights to management for decision-making.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, or a related field.

Minimum 5 years of HR experience, preferably in maritime, marine engineering, offshore, or technical industries.

Strong understanding of Singapore employment regulations and work pass administration.

Experience supporting technical workforce and project-based operations.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to work in a fast-paced operational environment.

Proficiency in English additional languages will be an advantage.

Preferred Qualifications

Postgraduate degree or above

Experience working in an international maritime company

Knowledge of maritime and commercial law

Familiarity with Singapore employment laws

Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and human resources analytics tools
