We are seeking an HSE Engineer/Manager for our client in the chemical manufacturing space to shape and strengthen the organization's overall safety culture. This position oversees all HSE related functions, setting the strategic direction and governing operations in line with regulatory obligations. Beyond governance, this role will drive continuous improvement efforts aimed at raising safety performance and operational reliability and ensuring that effective corrective and preventive measures are established and implemented.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain HSE policies, ensuring compliance with regulations and driving continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the Head of Department on HSE strategy, setting and achieving annual targets.
- Conduct regular facility audits, risk assessments, and inspections, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
- Lead employee safety training programs, including fire prevention, hazardous materials handling, and lockout/tagout procedures.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manage timely submission of permits and reports.
- Investigate incidents, determine root causes, and implement corrective measures.
- Support crisis management and emergency response plans, conducting drills and maintaining readiness.
- Lead internal and external HSE audits, ensuring compliance with ISO standards and other regulatory requirements.
- Promote a proactive safety culture, engaging employees in HSE initiatives.
- Maintain safety permits, licenses, and certifications, and liaise with regulatory bodies on compliance matters.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Safety, Health, Environmental Management, or related field.
- 7-10 years of HSE management experience, with at least preferably 2-5 years in a leadership role.
- Experience in the chemical, oil & gas, or related industries is highly preferred.
- Preferably certified with WSH Level C or higher, and registered as a Fire Safety Manager.
- Strong knowledge of safety regulations, risk management, and ISO standards.
- Leadership skills with the ability to foster a positive safety culture and mentor others.
